My impression is that the categorical IM track is considered more competitive than the PC track just b/c PC is less competitive in general. Nonetheless, Yale is Yale, and I'm happy to be interviewing for the PC track later this week. Someone on the Scutwork forum mentioned that the PC program consistently violates work hours, and that the majority of residents are IMG's and DO's, but if you look at the list of PC residents, there is no way this is true. And I got a kick out of this person's statement about how unreasonable it was to have to come in to pre-round before 7:30 am.. Every Yale student I've talked to speaks well of the Primary Care Program, and a few have said that the PC residents seem happier than the categorical ones, for what that's worth. Anyway, I don't know how I feel about the possibility of commuting to Waterbury for 6 months of intern year, but will post my impressions after the interview.
