Hi all,

I volunteer in one of Yale's Primary Care Clinics, and one of the adcom members told me that they're mailing out acceptances on Tuesday. Good luck!

That would be sweet! Thanks for sharing!

Not that I don't trust you 🙂, but can anyone else confirm?

No. Every school in the known universe has already given its decisions except for Yale. 😛

i think they enjoy being the attention ***** of the pre-med universe.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but a friend of mine received an email saying they are releasing admissions info on the 27th (not the 31st). She is MD/PhD, so I'm not positive MD decisions are coming out the same date, but I thought I'd bring this info to the board anyway since there's been quite a bit of confusion about Yale's decision date.

Thank goodness I have a rather busy schedule this weekend and next week. Hopefully I just won't have time to completely obsess.

 Yeah, right.

i can't believe it's in a week, it seemed like just yesterday we were all pining away about it being a month until we hear. man, if they extend the acceptance notices, or only send a few out at a time, they are going to get a bunch of rampaging, zombie-ish premeds pounding on harkness' doors a la '28 days later'.

It seems like forever to me... 😳

Next Friday seems like forever. Next Monday, not SO long.

Bump- Let's keep this on the front page! One week...

well, no word on admissions yet......but I did receive something from the financial aid office today. It listed the things that were missing from my financial aid file and said "pelase forward the requested items at your earliest convenience. We will not be able to process your financial aid application until all forms are received"........bizzare. i wasn't planning on applying until hearing an admissions decision.

Hey all-

You may want to read my posts in "Just got something from Yale Office of Financial Aid." I just had a strange and suggestive talk with someone at Yale.

It will probably be of interest to many of you.

oh lord, this is definitely much much worse than only one person getting an acceptance notice: one person getting a semi-acceptance notice through financial aid. WHY DO YOU TOY WITH MY HEART, YALE? WHAT HAVE I EVER DONE TO YOU?

Funny, because i feel the exact same way.

Does anyone know when Yale starts classes? I still can't find their schedule anywhere. I have no idea if it's even Aug or Sep.

i looked through the big official med school book they gave us at the interview...first years had orientation the last week of august, and classes started the beginning of september.

Thanks somewhere! 👍

I never even submitted my FAFSA... Is it too late to do that, btw? Not that it looks like I'll be needing it. Damnit, I'm feeling more pessimistic than ever. This is awful. They would definitely ask me why I don't have a FAFSA, wouldn't they?

Alright... I'm feeling a little bit better, because the FAO probably doesn't even have a file on me, considering I never even FAFSAd... Or should they be hounding me on why I didn't do that, if I'm in?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Dopamine- don't do this to yourself. I'm really rooting for you to get into Yale since I know you've been dreaming of the school for months on end...I remember you calling it your "academic soulmate" or something similar at some time.

At this point though, there's nothing you can do besides sit back and wait. Try not to stress yourself out over things like the financial aid form. Good luck! :luck:

=) Heh... Thanks. You're right. Nothing left to do but wait, and release neuroses on SDN so my poor friends/family don't suffer.

Well, we all know Yale is Dopamine's first choice. Who else has Yale as a top choice?

Yale is tied for #1 with me. Unfortunately, I felt like Yale was my worst interview 😡 , so I have been replaying it in my mind for over three months. This last week of waiting is going to kill me.

It's tied for #1 with me too. If I'm lucky enough to get in, then it'll be a tough decision between my state school (UNC) and Yale. If I can get in 🙂

My offer to bring chocolate dipped strawberries to the choco. party still stands. :luck: everybody.

sweetdoc

yale was my best interview, if i don't get in i give up on this process.

yale and cornell are tied for my #1 choice right now...i felt like my yale interview went very well too! one of my interviewers said that my application was "sparkling" and the committee "raved" about me. was he buttering me up? and even if not, how many stories have we all heard to interviewer praise being followed up by a big nasty rejection? 🙁

oh yale, please let me come back to new haven! i love you so!

:luck: to all of us!!

p.s. i filed FAFSA to yale and didn't get anything from financial aid...not letting myself make anything of that!

Yale is my first choice, no doubt. I got into Columbia and Penn this month, but would easily pick Yale over them.

Folks, Yales second look weekend is April 27 and 28th (thurs and Fri). As for admissions, good luck trying to get it out of any first year because we don't know. They don't tell us. Hope you all loved yale and hope that a lot of you decide to come here, can't wait to see you guys at second look. PM me if you have any specific questions.

Does anyone know if they will be giving out decisions through the mail, their website, or email?

I'm going on vacation tomorrow, and would like to know the best way to obsess and not enjoy my break.

Email and snail mail for acceptances. Snail mail only for rejections. I'm not sure about waitlists...

I thought I read somewhere that they were emailing waitlisters, too. But I have no actual confirmed info on that.

I can't wait for this to be over and done with.

*nervously biting nails* :scared:

so is the consensus that the magic date is this upcoming Friday? has anyone else received anything from financial aid? every time this thread gets bumped up my heart skips a beat (yes, I know I'm not helping for all of you who are also getting palpitations from this post, sorry)

if I do end up getting in, I'll start the chocolate party early and mail you all some :luck:

I don't think there is a consensus. Various posters have said everything from Mon-Fri. (at least Mon, Tues, and Fri)

ah. okay, thanks ChocolateKiss. 🙂

Bumpity bump, bump...

Who's filled out their financial aid stuff, already? Out of curiosity. Also, who said Monday last week? I remember feeling like the person sounded authoratative. Damnit, I don't want to wait 6 more days.

Harvard's revisit is 5/4-5/6. I think Stanford's, however, is the same weekend as Yale and Penn.

Out of curiosity, how many of you wrote a letter of intent? It would be interesting to see the correlation between letter of intent and acceptance.

because I really don't want to unnecessarily put any of you in a stress frenzy, but....if I were in the dark about this, i'd want to know. Here goes nothing:

Remember me, the guy who got something in the mail from financial aid, called them and was told that I was sent that piece of mail by accident?

Well, with a little free time on a sunday night i though the best use of my time would be to check out the Yale financial aid application to see if there was any info I haven't been asked previously about my parents financial info (so I could alert my parents and have them track this down so it wouldn't hold up my financial aid application if I do, after all of this, get accepted).

so, i registered on-line and started filling things out for the Yale Financial Aid application (not FAFSA or Need Access) and was surprised to see that some of the info had already been filled out for me (for example: my undergraduate college).

I refuse to be the person to suggest this means anything, and it's entirely possible the application is simply linked to our original medical school applications and that the info would appear regardless of admissions status.

If someone who filled out the application a long time ago (well before we approached decision time) had this happen to them as well then it most likely means nothing. Didn’t one of you say that “you wished you hadn’t filed everything in February?” Maybe you can help us out.

I know this is going to cause quite a bit of panic, whether it means anything or not and I'm sorry about that. Just thought you'd all want to know.

I just filled out my FAFSA yesterday (ie, there's no way it could have been processed yet), and my info is in there as well (colleges, contact info, city of birth, etc). Does everyone else have their info in there?

FAFSA or the Yale Financial Aid Application? If it was also in the FAFSA I'm even more inclined to believe this happens automatically and means nothing.
