Did you say "Yes" or "No" for work study on the FAFSA? Porque?

I was thinking I don't want to more obligations - I like to be able to choose engaging activities in my small amount of free time, but looking at some of the school's websites, there are some sweet work study positions. Considering correcting my FAFSA (again...), but that may slow down the process...

I said yes. I figured if I decided later I couldn't do/didn't want to do the work study, I could just decline that portion of the package and work with them to get a private loan or something else. This is what I did in college. The workstudy I was offered in college always interfered with some other activity so I always declined it and found my own job.

Can you post links or positions available at the schools for work study.
I answered no, but really was not sure.
Now with your post, I'm reconsidering also.
I have no idea what kind of work study opportunities are available.
I thought it was just sitting at the library....

I haven't looked into many schools, but on one's finaid website I saw medical assistant positions at a health clinic, red cross, missions projects through a church, planned parenthood... It would still be another obligation on top of your studies, but at least it would be an interesting and pertinent position. I'm not sure how many schools have these sorts of opportunities though.

I was wondering, since I already submitted saying "No" to work-study and I don't want to delay my finaid information another couple of weeks, could I just discuss the possibility of substituting work-study for loans after I get the finaid packages from schools?

If you say "yes," you will have the OPTION of doing work study.

If you say "no," you will not have the option at all. There is absolutely no reason to say no.

An example of work study jobs at my school:

1. Work (study) in the library.
2. Teaching assistant for MS-I labs (histology, anatomy, neuroanatomy----this = board review for MS-II's)
3. Assisting the orthopedic surgeons on the sidelines at local sporting events (yes, this is a paid work study through the sports medicine club)

I've always put "no" for workstudy on the FAFSA form (because I didn't plan on doing it), but I've done workstudy in 2 separate areas. Never was a problem.

Sweet. Thanks. That's what I was hoping to hear...not exactly wanting to "correct" my FAFSA again and further delay the process.

It shouldn't delay anything. I've made several corrections on my form every year, and it never caused a problem.

(yeah I know...you just gave me a window to practice my horrible spanish)

Marking yes doesn't obligate you to do workstudy; it just shows that you may be interested. I put yes.

Work study is extra by the way. It doesn't take away from how much you get in loans, etc.
