Hello Everybody,

I recently received word that Yeshiva's Clinical PsyD Program will be granting me an interview for admission. Needless to say I am beyond excited and utterly terrified. I have been doing my research into the the school and am feeling more confident about my knowledge of the program. i was hoping that some of you guys on this forum might have more information about Ferkauf's interview process, specifically the PsyD in Clinical. All I really know is that it is a group interview. Seriously, that's all they tell you. If anyone can give me anything I would be greatly appreciate their input. Also, does anyone know what the applied:accepted ratio is for this particular program or to Ferkauf in general?

I wish all of you who are also in the application phase the best of luck and look forward to hearing from somebody.

Adam

Hi Adam,
I attened an interviewed for the PhD Cliunical Health program (which was just accredited 2 years ago). The environment at Ferkauf was very laid back....it didn't seem too organized but I enjoyed the profesorr and the students with whom I met. I don't know how the PsyD process differs but that's my 2 cents...
Good luck.

Congrats! 🙂 I have down that the Clinical PsyD @ Ferkauf has a 26% acceptance rate. (I think from Insider's Guide.) Not sure what the interviewed:accepted ratio is, but it's always a good sign. Good luck!!

Do any of you know when the decisions are made? A friend of mine also interviewed a couple of weeks ago and still hasn't heard anything!

I don't know...I interviewed Feb 12 (for PhD Clinical) and haven't heard anything one way or the other from them.

At least for the Combined Psy.D. program, they said decisions should be given out by March 15.

I believe most people have a personal interview and a group interview for this program.

Thanks for all of the great replies! I guess what i really want to know is whether to expect anything unusual at the interview. I've had friend who have interviewed at various programs and been asked the "What kind of animal would you be?" type of non-normative questions. If anyone else has details they'd like to share or anything please reply. I'll keep the board posted on what happens.

Thanks again,

Adam

I heard that a friend of one of my colleagues was asked at the Yeshiva PsyD interview something along the lines of "If you could ask God one question...". I think otherwise the interview was fairly standard.....😛

What is your interview for at Ferkauf??

I know the group interviews for the combined programs are mostly Q & A. There were about 5 or 6 other people in the room and we were told that the point of the interview was to ask the professor questions. We were not asked anything.

Hope this helps

I interviewed for Ferkauf PsyD program 6 years ago, so I don't know if things have changed since then, but for what it's worth -- there were 4 applicants together at the interview, and we were interviewed by 1 faculty member. Basically we had to go around the room and introduce ourselves for five minutes or so, and then the faculty member asked us a few very straightforward questions and we went around the room answering them. My impression was that they did it in group form to save time -- the q's were the same as you'd get in a one-on-one interview. There was no element of small group dynamics or group process like there is at the Adelphi interview.

After the interview, we were given the option of taking a tour of the campus with a current grad student, who also answered questions.

Good luck!

Hi all,

I recently received an invitation to an interview for PsyD in Clinical Psychology at Yeshiva University. Although I realize that there has been a thread about this topic, I still did not get a chance to learn much about the interview format and the process for this particular program. I would appreciate if you could share your interview experiences for the PsyD program at Yeshiva and whether you have any advice for me.

Thank you in advance!
