What are you talking about? The anesthesia forum is perhaps the most active specialty forum on SDN. Don't read the threads you don't like and post some quality topics instead of complaining about ours. We don't suck, you suck.

I'm guessing you weren't much of a lurker before you joined in 09/11. You needn't tell Jet about the history of this forum.
He's right, it kind of sucks. I always like to blame it on the interview season, but there aren't too many "what are my chances " threads this year, so I really have no explanation, other than a lack of egos currently posting. Even Blade is hardly around.

Long time lurker, just started posting as a 4th Yr. I was literally thinking just the other day, "man jet hasn't shown his face in a while". But really the past two months has been nothing but the sky is falling posts, Conrad Murray, or application/interview posts.
I think interview season brings out all of us needy please give me advice med students and all the regular forum Generals avoid the redundancy a bit. Theres only a couple new posts a day these days. Regardless of the reason I def have noticed the lack of energetic, fun posts. Which is unfortunate because part of what sold me on this field in the first place is how fun and laid back everyone I've met in Anesthesia has been.
Leave it to Jet to administer the healthy dose of reality.

Just out of curiosity, you always refer to "the U." Are you saying this as a good thing? Are you talking about a university setting hospital for training? If you speak of "the U" as a source of swagger, why do you consistently tear down the academicians who trained you at "the U?" Just curious. No offense intended.

I am aware of that particular "the U." I didn't think he was talking about college football since I can't tell how it is relevant to SDN and why it gets mentioned so often in an anesthesia forum.

The U is pretty much synonymous with swagger. I think his reference is more about the lack of energy, or in your face swagger on the forum not how their football team relates to anesthesia......(but if you consider opioids/narcotics they actually do relate😀)

When I was an intern, our program was at the MARC (Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference). One of the residents was going on and on about how the CA1s were the greatest class ever. He turned to the interns and said "you guys have some big shoes to fill." My response? "We've got big feet, bitch!"

I'm not going to try to crank out some awesome post today, because it would be contrived, and I have my first real anesthesia job interview in an hour. But I think we have potential here. It may never be the same as the Jet/UTSW/MilMD/Noyac/Plankton days, because those guys were the OGs of this set. But we have the weapons here to make something happen.

We are a bit anemic and certainly could use a little more JPP entertainment and certainly more clinical threads with educational value would be nice. There is a lot of the same 'ol doom an gloom threads that have become so pervasive.
I appreciate it when you use SDN to channel the writer/entertainer in you. Keep it up. It's funny and often to the point iced over with real life experience. A lot of us have a lot of hours invested in this SDN thing. It can be fun, entertaining, heart breaking, eye popping, educational, plain 'ol silly and hilaaaaaarious, etc, etc.... We've lost some good frequent posters like Noy and MilMD, but there are some young and hungry SDNers out there.
So....did I mention......

Welcome to college athletics in general. It doesn't matter who it is, college football is corrupt to the core, if you don't think 90% of heavily recruited players are getting paid you're naive. Did you happen to see that ESPN special on Florida St? What a joke, they had tutors writing papers and doing homework for the players, lowered the SAT requirement for athletes etc....they had multiple people giving accounts of how one player in particular read at a 4th grade level (Antonio-Cromartie). The U has always just flaunted it while everyone else is hiding/covering it up. College sports has become just a show, embrace the "gangster" or be left liking, well, basically just Duke.....and nobody likes Duke.
And I like how you only adjusted the main part of my post and left out the part at the end where I hinted at the drug use etc.

Yes, please. I'm a lowly second year, but what little free time I have for the 1nt3rtubz I'd prefer not to spend reading about the how the sky is falling. I love the clinical threads, I learn quite a bit. Without them, it feels like we talk about the same 3 topics that involve the profession going to crap soon. Over and over and over again.

Been busy as hell lately. It's hunting season and all. Got my new rig and I have been seeing how many different ways I can void the warranty.
Also I got the new POD farm (only ten acres) to get set up for winter so that we can come screaming out of the gates next spring.
Never thought that I would be thinking that 1/4 might not be quite enough time off.
Hopefully will have some big buck pics coming later this year. Right now they aren't quite ready for lovin, but the does are sure grouping up big time so it can't be long.
Won't be this Sat though. Gotta get the man cave ready for #1 vs #2 gonna be awesome.

Unfortunately the good old days that Jet is referring to are over.
People here seem to have become overwhelmingly politically correct and that is what contributed to the lack of controversy, conflict and unfortunately excitement.

Looks like you have done some nice warranty voiding work too. I like the debadging. Still debating about doing the same.
No brand loyalty for me. Got a screaming deal on a great truck. 3000 miles in the last week and a half and with my suspension mods it rides almost as good as my GTI! Not bad for a 1 ton truck.
