You know what i really hate ?

oh c'mon

my gpa is kinda low, A- and A makes a big difference on my gpa

by 0.02 - which is a big deal for me trying to crack 3.5

A -

^ seriously.

i have a 92% in this online BS music course, but i got an A-. just gimme an A:meanie:

I got an 89.4 in an anthropology class and the professor (who was trying to prove something) gave me a B. Although that is the grade that my percentage would have earned me, it took me a while to get over it. What kills me is that when I asked her what my grade was after the final she said B. I said ok. Then she said it was an 89.4%. Really!? Four days before Christmas. Why would you do that to somebody? That's like hanging a piece of candy on a string and dangling it in front of a kid, out of reach.

You'll move on, but I agree it is frustrating and it will take time. Best of luck to you.

yeah but in my opinion everything in the 90s should be an A

never knew what the point of A- or B- was

I know how you feel, i got A- in my microbio lab with a 93%. Give them a hard time about it, even if it won't change a thing 🙂

Just wait until Dental School where an 89.99 is a non-negotiable B.

What really stinks is that an A- according to AADSAS is equal to 3.667 not a 3.7.

The A- screws you out of an A then AASAS screws you out of your 3.7 lol.

I'm with you though... I hate to get A- vs A's.

yea...and i hate getting a B+ instead of an A-. I also hate getting a B instead of a B+, and so on.

seriously. a bunch of my peers got ~89.5 in our restorative class. the class director won't bump them up to an A. B+ for them 🙁

At the Univ of Oregon, you get an extra 0.3 for an A+, making it possible to achieve a GPA higher than 4.0

Which ends up being the only good thing about the academic side of the University of Oregon.

I thought their human phys department was excellent. I learned more there in a year than I did 4 years at UC Davis. They also have a great anatomy program. 8 cadavers and aside from simply taking anatomy, there's an opportunity to dissect/prosect them as an undergrad? I think that's pretty cool.

I was lucky to have my very own head and neck to work on. An entire quarter of learning everything I was going to be doing in anatomy during dental school. I thought it was a VERY valuable experience that will serve me well come my first year.

Don't most undergrad institutions have cadavers to dissect?

I just calculated out the grade for one of my classes this semester and it came to a 93.5....really hoping my professor will be kind and round up =P

I was a human phys major there as well and I'll agree that the human physiology and anatomy classes were valuable, but trying to get teacher help in any class was like getting a root canal without any anesthetic: unnecessarily painful and hard. The only exception on that entire campus was anatomy lab, and even then you were getting help from TA's and GTF's.

I loved the physiology classes, but it wasn't until I took anatomy at Midwestern that I learned how much harder they made that class than it needed to be. However, take my opinion with a grain of salt because I had a jaded experience that I won't explain on a public forum.

Most have pre-dissected/prosected cadavers available to observe and learn from, but not all have programs where you can actually apply to dissect/prosect a new cadaver. Also, some schools have cadavers that they reuse for several years. UO gets new cadavers every year. They're prosected by students (undergrad and graduate) spring quarter and then used for anatomy lab the following fall and winter quarters.

Sorry to hear that. I have another friend who also had a pretty jaded experience at UO, and it always pains me to hear about it considering I had such a good experience.

Shoulda studied harder...I only make A+s :laugh::laugh:

jk

Mine doesn't! Thank God! An A is an A..is an A! More like 89.5, because most will round up! Woohoo 😀

It would be better if they had A+s; if they get an A they get a 4.0, an A+, a 4.3.
