Re: the CNN spot - the AMA couldn't find one single physician to speak on this topic?!?! Not one? It doesn't look like the nurses insisted on an intellectual supernova - we couldn't find one guy with an MD to talk about this? Where's Sanjay?

While I'm venting:
- I'm tired of hearing that nurses take better care "of the whole person" - that's the entire difference between physicians and nurses? Really? For the love of God, please. That doesn't even make any sense.
- the ASAPAC sent me a list of all the donors in their shiny little magazine today. If your name was in it, nice. If not, give a lil' something. Anything. You know how I looked at it? I'd drop $30 in a bar w/my girlie in the blink of an eye, every weekend if I could. It should be no thing but a chicken wing to drop that amount (or more) for ONCE a year to help keep this profession afloat.

There. I feel better.

Thank you for posting that.
Have you been able to see the name of the clinic on the "white coat"?
I think they'll lose some patients...
And the militant..
WHAT A *****...
Now the fun started - the fight between the nurse specialist and the other more specialist than the other one.
Legal implications and MARK MY WORD:
If they are allowed to do what they do (critical care, sleep medicine, ortho and so on) with an internet "diploma" - WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT - either pain, palliative, surgery or internal medicine. You go online - get a piece of paper, open a business - advertise as an MD with a special interest and "certified" and - voila - that's the future brothers and sisters.
AMA was busy to say something...
Busy sending letters to sell life insurance.
AMA=PIGS
And regarding the thread that was closed by Arch- where the ASA was blaming SDN - who was right?
Of course SDN members.
As you see it now.

I watched this, and one of the more frustrating aspects of it is that the interviewer actually seemed to ask really useful, thoughtful, and seemingly unbiased questions. It would've been a great forum for an actual debate, instead of this one-sided advertisement. That and he went on and on about how his training as an NP somehow made him more qualified to take a "holistic" approach to the patient, whatever that means. I doubt there was anything in his training that underpins that.

Every ASA member should:

1) go to http://www.asahq.org/
2) log in (user name is 1st inital followed by your last name, all lower case)
3) I think the default password is your ASA #, if you don't remember your password, they can email it to you
4) click the ASAPAC link at the top, then click the contribute button
5) set up a recurring monthly donation - $300/year is a real contribution and it's just $25/month to help protect our profession AND ensure patients continue to receive the safest anesthesiologist-directed care

Whats up with california...the largest state in the union. Pathetic. Its also nice to see who in your group is pure talk, and who is actually doing something on the subject.

Too much victim mentality. Too much 'it doesnt matter, it wont help.'
