Hi everybody!

I’m applying this cycle, and I wanted to know your opinion on what schools I should consider. I am obviously going to do my own research as well, but I would like to get a general idea from you guys, who have had years of experience answering questions like these. I will be applying to all the Texas schools, as I am a resident. So, I was hoping you guys could help me with schools that are outside of Texas. (I want to apply to 6-8 besides the Texas schools). I’d really appreciate it, if you could look at my info. I apologize in advance if we have a thread about this/similar to this subject, and I’ve missed it.

Overall GPA: 3.96
Science GPA and Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: very similar to overall
DAT score: AA 22, TS 23, Bio 22, Gen chem 22, ochem 25, RC 22, QR 21, PAT 18
Extracurriculars: ~250 hours of ongoing volunteering; plenty of leadership positions, and 3 non-academic awards. NO research experience, however.
Shadowing hours: general dentistry for 200 hours; I’m shadowing specialists this summer to see if I’m interested in any in particular.
Letters of rec: a committee letter, which includes five letters total-all are strong I would say.
Miscellaneous: I plan on submitting my TMDSAS around May 25th and AADSAS as soon as I can submit it (June 5th). I am also interested in specializing as of now, which is why I’m shadowing those specialists during the summer. I am also 20 if it matters at all.

Your input is much appreciated!

Not knowing what you look for in a school, we cannot really help you make a decision. However, you will need to consider things like whether or not you meet their course prerequisites (rarely does somebody satisfy them for every single school that exists), acceptance rates for public institutions, etc.

This is a no-brainer. You will most likely get a TX acceptance, so go where it will be the cheapest, where you will be happiest, and how close you want to be to family.
It's clear you've worked very hard, congratulations! Enjoy the benefits of your efforts.
