Were/Are either/both of your parents dentists, or have you had to make it entirely on your own (or possibly both at once)?

boiiing (got tired of "bump")

I'll be the first in my family. But we have some close family friends who are dentists, I'm not related to them, but they are pretty much family.

My grandfather and his brother were both orthodontists and an uncle (same side of family) is also an orthodontist.

I'm the first dentist in my family (a long line of doctors)...

My mom is a dentist, but (oddly) it was a guy that I played summer league ice hockey with that got me interested in dentistry.

My grandfather is the dean of a medical school in China. He is a very good doctor. My parents are not doctors. Most of my father's side of relatives are doctors. And I grow up in the medical school. I hate the medical school since I was a little. I didn't tell my parents that I want to be a dentist. I probably tell them when I become one.

All of my family is in education ranging from teachers to superintendents. Except for one great uncle who was a dentist, but lost his license in two different states because he was treating patients for cancer among other things.

No one in my family is in dentistry... First one here!

My parents are $hit-kicker. Well not really, more like $hit-pumpers:laugh:. The more appropriate description is Drill rig operators and cesspool and sewage extraction and disposal. Pretty revolting, not much anything worst than that. Also they worked with bees. One time at the age of three I was stung 300+ times. 😱

Basically I am a world of difference then my parents. 😎

I'll be the first in my immediate family to have completed anything beyond a 4 year degree. In the extended family, there are mostly businessmen with couple PhD's and physicians here and there.

haha I'm another one who's completely different from their parents. I was the first in my family to graduate from high school, let alone plan on attending dental school.

I am also complete opposite of my parents and family. Me and My sister are the first ones in all of my father side family to even go beyond 5th grade. Mostly same in my mother side family with two exceptions but is changing. Now my sister is Pharmacy Graduate and hopefully I will be in dental school upcoming year.

Not only will i be the first dentist but the first to get a bachelors (sister has an A.A.). my parents feel i am wasting my time and i would be perfectly fine with the job i had, a dead end maintenance position at a dairy, i took that job so i could finance college. now i quit to finish my last year and try to get in for the 2005 cycle 🙂 I am extremely excited about it. the funny part is now that my parents see that i am doing what i want without regard to their opinion of it they are like, we are proud of you and glad to see you are doing what you want. yeah right, like i am supposed to believe that...

My father is a neurologist and my brother is a retina surgeon. No dentists in my family.

I'll be the first dentist (doctor) in the family. My parents are so proud. 🙂
