Hey all. I've really been stressing out my app chances. I did 5 years. 3 of those years I managed to get 8 Ws 1 WU and and academic probation at one point. In my last 2 years when I found out I really wanted to be a doc I turned my act around and pulled off >3.7cGPA. I plan to ace my MCAT however my first 2.5-3yrs might hold me back. What are your thoughts?
My ECs, research and all the other stuff are top shot.
Also do you think I would have a shot at Drexel with this

Youre clearly panicking, 8 W's probably won't matter when compared to the academic probation. Everyone "plans on acing the MCAT" but it doesn't always end up that way so, if you really want to pursue becoming a doctor, focus on the MCAT for now and then handle the other stuff later. I know academic probation is a big red flag for ADCOMS but, if your grades are good enough, they might actually give you the opportunity to explain yourself.

Like I said, the best way to approach this app process is one step at a time and right now, youre on the MCAT step. Kill the MCAT.

The explanation here though is that I was just some dumb kid who didn't know better and didn't take school seriously. I dont want to take the mcat and spend time to Ace it but at the end rejected by everyone.

Drexel is but one of a number of M.D. schools that reward reinvention

I understand but the fact of the matter is....no one knows whether a school will or will not give you a chance. We can all sit here and tell you "go for it! you'll be fine!" but that may or may not be the case.

I personally had A LOT of things that were red flags and might've prevented me from getting in. If I didn't just keep going and pushing through, I wouldn't be where I am today. I say, if you really want to be a doctor, just go for it. Like Goro said, Drexel is one of many that believe in the fact that people can change. When you are applying, make sure you speak to people who know the process who can advise you on how to approach that sensitive topic. I wish you the best of luck and hope it works out!
