Hey, I'm curious what schools you guys think are your favorite of the ones you have interviewed at so far. This was done a couple of months ago, so I'm sure it has changed for a lot of people. SO basically list the top three schools that you would want to go to that you have interviewed at.
Here is mine:

1. Baylor
2. Northwestern (very close to Baylor for #1)
3. Univ of Michigan

This is not a cut and paste, just list yours.

I am totally with you on Baylor!

1> Baylor (was, is, and ever shall be the fave) 😀 😀 😀
2> University of Pennsylvania (actually, I would call this 1.5 and on some days ties for first)
3> University of Rochester

I have only one interview to go, so I think my list is carved in stone (although #3 may lose out to the last interview if the last school lives up to its reputation...).

I really like this thread! It's going to be fun to see what schools everybody likes.

😉

my top 3:

1. harvard
2. stanford
3. columbia

1 Duke
2 Emory
3 Columbia

With Penn, UNC, and Vandy to go though, so who knows.

I think some people here are trying to brag 😉

1. Penn
2. Yale
3. UCLA

still not sure where UCSF ranks, and I haven't heard jack from Harvard (turns out they lost my freaking letters of rec.)

1. Harvard
2. Johns Hopkins
3. UCSF

I wish I had been gooder scholls butt they say me my riting not so good.

Exactly. I see nothing the matter with this thread. I haven't posted, because I have yet to interview anywhere, but it seems like a perfectly reasonable idea. It's not to brag, just to be curious about what the opinions of others are.

personally, i think this thread sucks. maybe i'll feel differently (ie lose my diplomatic sensitivity) once I have been accepted at a school and feel safe and secure enough to go around talking shat.
But hey...we are running out of topics here on the board, and I DONT want this board to seem flooded with inconsequential (to us) mcat study questions. so if this thread is what it takes to dilute this board a bit, I'm a happy camper.

PS. although i'll never contribute to this thread, it provides some interesting reading. just seeing which one of us has the cojones to put up
1. Howard
2. Meharry
3. Morehouse*

*Morehouse, on some days, ties Meharry. My mood changes...who knows where I'll end up....

Hmmm.... I wish I could rank as easily as you all but I think at this point in my life....

1. UMDNJ-NJMS
2. NYMC
3. VCU/MCV

Had three interviews so far and there they are....

i love and appreciate people like megkudos for their character. most people just move on when they see a list as intimidating as this one. i say fuggit, let's jump in. enjoy coca-cola!

Like megkudos, my list isn't anything spectacular!

1. Einstein
2. Temple
3. GW

Was also at MCP-Hahnemann and NYMed, but didn't like either of them.

Mine is not as impressive either... however, I'll play along...
(1/2) Temple and MCP Hahnemann
(3) Penn State

Hey you guys, be proud of your lists! We can't all be HyperElite. Just remember all of these schools are allopathic medical schools in the United States of America. We will all graduate with MDs. Attending any one of these schools is something to be proud of and will command us instant respect from people the whole world over for the rest of our natural lives. This self-deprecatory stuff is not necessary. Be happy and proud of yourselves. We're not all going to Harvard but why should we care?

For the record my list:
1)Ohio State
2)U of Cincinnati
3) U Vermont

Hey MegKudos - were you at NJ on Friday?

My list is:
1)Cornell
2)Columbia
3)Mt. Sinai (I'm cheating on this one...the interview is on the 30th, but what I've seen so far from working at the school, I really like it)

HEY E'01!!! IM INTERVIEWING AT SINAI ON JAN 30 ALSO!!!

Today mine is...

1) Cornell
2) Michigan
3)Columbia/NYU (tie)

Though all this could change, even day by day.

Choker that's awesome!! So I can finally get to meet another fellow SDN-er. See you soon 🙂

E'01- Yeah I was at NJ on Friday for the Luncheon. You too?

Thats cool Meg - yes I was there too

How about some reasons for 'today's top 3'?

1. Florida - the novelty of cold big cities isn't as attractive this week 🙂
2. Pittsburgh - easily my best weekend of the semester. go PBL!
3. Chicago-Pritzker - bright place for an academic medicine future

...could still see myself happy at georgetown or south florida. T'would be nice if I had a single acceptance, let alone make these choices 🙄

Hang in there USeF, I'm sure that the acceptances will start rolling in soon. Hopefully you'll get into UF this month (they start granting a lot of acceptances in January). UF and Pitt over Pritzker, eh? Interesting to say the least. Anyway, it's just a huge waiting game for a lot of us. Right now I just wanna get in, and if I'm fortunate enough to stay in the warm weather down here, I won't complain. 😀 😀

i hate to wage threadwar, but i would like to say that people should be able to list harvard, etc. as their top three without being considered elitist! most of us haven't been accepted at these schools, these are just preferences. mine (and no, i haven't gotten into any of them yet)

1. Columbia
2. Cornell
3. Stanford/Duke/Northwestern

Okay, so I can't narrow things down. I did apply to 22 schools in the first place! I never claimed to be decisive 😉

hey alice, i like your top three (see mine above 🙂 )

Alice, you misunderstand me if you think that I am accusing people of elitism just because they list "elite" schools. Not at all. In the posts I have read, no posters have been bragging. They have just answered the question about their preferences regarding the schools where they have interviewed. That is great. I was approaching the subject from the opposite side...I was just discomfited how people who don't have "elite" schools to list are feeling the need to preface their lists with an apology for how their list of schools is not that great or to feel intimidated from posting because others posting have listed "elite" schools. We should all put things in perspective and be proud of our accomplishments. It is great Alice that you have interviewed at such good places. I would love to interview at Stanford in particular myself (not holding my breath on that one!).

As soon as I have been to three interviews, I'll let ya know.... 😉

1) UPENN ( GOTTA LOVE IT!)
2) COLUMBIA
3) WASH U / UMICH / NYU

I am hoping on the top two! I think according to US NEWS statistics there is a 45% percent chance I will get into one of them....

1)DukeU/WashMe--MD/PhD
3)Harvard--HST

I haven't interviewed at the following schools yet..it's just a tentative list of my fav. med schools.

1) Meharry (the one and only!)
2) Ponce (me lo dices?)
3) Harvard/JHU/Duke/Yale/Morehouse/WashU/Cornell/Emory

number three is ranked in the order of preference, but really, on most days, they're all about even as my third favs. ...way it goes.... 😀

*just having some fun

1) UF
2) Albany
3) USA

I'm not factoring in financial issues. My list is ranked solely on the quality of the school (as perceived during my interview).

this is based on the school alone, when other issues like location, price, weather are taken into account, I may (if i get in) end up choosing SF.

1. Chicago-Pritzker
2. UCSF
3. Duke

1. UMass ($ and locn--near family)
2. Rochester(curriculum, facilities,research)
3. Tulane (climate, pt populn)

How come you florida people don't have USF on your list??

I mean USF has to rank higher than Albany....

I haven't interviewed at USF yet. They lost my letters of rec. If I interview with them, my list may change.

How do you know USF is ranked higher than Albany? Rankings are only given to the top 50, right?

Boy, it's really hard to pick a top3. But, I guess mine are:

1) UCSF
2) U. Mich or U. Iowa
3) UCLA or Stanford (I haven't interviewed at the farm yet)
4) Wisconsin

Hrm...it's kind of a trivial list since I've pretty much liked all the places I've been to. While UW is listed as #4 there, I'd be totally thrilled if that's where I ended up. The only clear choice was SF at #1.

Good luck all,

Adam

I'm just happy that your top picks aren't the schools that I am applying to. Which means I still have a chance.

1)Yale
2)Baylor
3)Ohio State/Rochester

Haven't interviewed yet, but I don't think my list would change.

I've only interviewed at 2 schools, Columbia and Albany. The choice would be pretty clear between those two. But I'm with Jessica and Brandondite -- I'll get back to you when I've been to a few more interviews.

1. Hahvud (interviewed on Thanksgiving)
2. Stanfud (interviewed on Christmas)
3. Dook (interviewed on New Year's)

Ok, sorry, I was just having fun. Well, I don't have a top 3 b/c I don't want to curse myself.

🙂 🙂 🙂

1) MCV/VCU
2) Boston Univ
3) Morehouse 😉

i haven't checked this thread in a while - but choker, i definitely noticed the similarity in our lists! hope for both of our sakes to see you in the fall!!!

Today's top 3
1. Pitt
2.(tie) Chicago-Pritzker, UF

pitt's block system and PBL is getting my love. Besides they are the last one to hear back from and I'm starting to get this feeling in my belly that they might give me an acceptance instead of making it to waitlist #5/5. 😀

anybody else's change in the last month?

Here goes....

1) Mayo MD/PhD
2) Sinai MD/PhD
3) UCLA MD/PhD (although funding here is an issue)

Also, on some days when I feel like I wanna stay closer to home Sinai comes over Mayo. On other days when I pick up a Cell paper and see Larry Zipursky on it (a very admirable scientist for all you neuro-development buffs) I feel like going to the hub of UCLA. God only knows...

Revising my list:

1. Baylor
2. UPenn
3. Harvard
