Hi guys, here's a dumb question for you guys. Do you think it would hurt my chances for having a youtube channel documenting my life? I don't know if med admissions would think that would be unprofessional or if the prefer if their students did not do that. And if it is ok to have one, do you think I could mention having a channel on my application as a hobby? Thanks guys and have a nice day.

I would feel really uncomfortable having my "life" on the Internet for all to see. If I were you, I would absolutely not do that, but that's my opinion. As far as med schools are concerned, they're probably not going to look you up but they have been known to do so in the past, so you can't know if they will or not. If you must put yourself out there on YouTube, make certain that you're presenting your best self, which is hopefully not news to you.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if I was clear enough but I meant documenting as in making videos about day in the life of a pre med student along with various tips and advices about being a premed. I've seen medical students and doctors with channels like this and am also interested in doing my own. I wouldn't put anything bad on my channel.

Ah, I thought it was going to be more of a personal vlog or video memior. If that's something you want to do and you think you'd be helpful, go for it. Be professional and give good advice is all I can say.

I think daily vlogs are pretty cool, and impossible to find unless you self-identify as a daily vlogger on your AMCAS. Either way, I don't think it's a detriment, please like studentdocthompson are, imo, real assets to the medical student/premedical community.

Thank you for the reply! I feel like a lot of high school students, premed students, and potential premed students can benefit from daily vlogs along with advices videos.

I agree, as a premed student I have watched a ton of pre-med videos on youtube. It really helps to motivate me. I found this one youtube channel called,
Mission 2 Medicine, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPKPGBOLAdyx7Z3Uf2Cxo_A I thought it was pretty good, you all should check it out.
