Man, I should have applied MSTP. You totally get wined and dined! Oh, had I but known...

Boston University
4 Food quality - make-your-own sandwich/wrap spread. Cold cuts (including a rather good roast beef) and cheeses. Pasta salad, salads. Overall quality of your sandwich/wrap depended on the individual's sandwich-artist prowess. Bottled/canned drinks - included a limited number of Nantucket Nectars juices.
2.5 Atmosphere - 30 applicants plus several medical students made for a very crowded room (you eat at a desk). Felt a bit like a cattle call. As desks were arranged in several largish circles, it became hard to hear comments from people who sat any significant distance from me. Since all second flight interviews don't get out at the same time, some people walked into a crowded room with no seats.
4 Choice - good collection of meats, breads, and cheeses to put together any sandwich that you wanted.

 Classic...

Don't forget Northwestern is nice enough to also give some breakfast.

I've only interviewed at Wisconsin, Mayo and WashU.

Wisconsin:
Bag lunch with a nice sandwich, choice of turkey or veggies, apple, cookie, chips, and soda.

Mayo:
Lunch voucher at the cafe, no limit. The cafeteria had lots of choices, but most of them weren't so "healthy" (ie fried stuff).

WashU:
Pizza Dinner the night before (great lookin Pizza, didn't eat any though)

Breakfast voucher at the cafe, no limit (one med student bought 5 eggs to take home in addition to the breakfast he actually ate 🙂)

Lunch was very nice, our room was next to the residency interviewee's lunch room. In addition to the nice dining room, the food was excellent.

Georgetown - Crappy sandwich (I think, this is the one I'm least sure about)
Creighton - Brisket, salad, rolls.
SUNY Downstate - Crappy sandwich.
UC Irvine - Nice spread of sandwiches, salad, rolls and deli salads.
VCU - $7.50 to eat as hospital.
Boston - Sandwich spread, very nice.

GWU: sandwich choices (with brownies & salad 😉)
Upstate: sandwiches or chicken salad with fruit cups
Downstate: crappy sandwiches
Temple: voucher in cafe (NiCe)
Howard: voucher in cafe (very NiCe)
NYU: sandwiches, pasta salad & pastries/brownies
Cornell: sandwiches (noticing a trend)

Rankings:
1. Columbia: You pick from a sandwich/drink menu before your interview. My sandwich was awesome (and it came in a Columbia paper bag, which I kept ).
2. UVM: Choices of several wraps, chips, soda/water, cookies - Very tasty.
3. EVMS: Choice of wraps from Tropical Smoothie, chips, and soda/water.
4. NYMC: Lunch voucher - they had all kinds of choices, but a lot of them didn't have prices so I didn't know how much I could get.
5. AECOM: Lunch voucher in their all-kosher cafeteria. The food was homemade and pretty good.
6. WVU: Lunch voucher, which could be used in the private "doctors only" cafeteria or in the general cafeteria - my group went into the private one which was nice.
7. VCU: Lunch voucher for the hospital cafeteria (which is extremely busy from 12:00 to 1:00) - You can get a lot of food with the voucher and there were lots of choices.
8. University of Maryland: Choice of box lunches - each contained sandwich/chips/dessert - also had soda/water - My sandwich was less than satisfying and the dessert tasted funny.

The rankings were based on quality of food and the lunch environment (I preferred eating in a separate room with the other interviewees rather than a cafeteria).

You've gotta get there early and grab the blackened chicken.

great thread. Problem: I don;t eat sandwiches (except toasted) or salad...

You've gotta get there early and grab the blackened chicken.

Well unfortunately I don't eat meat (except for seafood) so I ended up with a veggie sandwich, which consisted mostly of about 20 thin slices of granny smith apples, some cheddar cheese, and a bunch of alfalfa sprouts. It was one of the most confusing sandwiches I've ever eaten.

Don't forget Northwestern is nice enough to also give some breakfast.

When you start at 7:30 AM, you'd better be providing breakfast

Brown Med:
ok, not a lunch, but a special day-before dinner (ethics discussion s/b Gold Foundation).

choice of grilled swordfish with mashed orange potatoes, chicken with vegetables, or breaded vegetables. cheese and fruit appetizer, mini-creme brulee dessert. 5's all the way across as long as the people sitting at your table didn't suck.

lesson to be learned: find out what's going on at a med school before scheduling a date. you might hit the jackpot with respect to food or social events.

for Best, I totally vote for Columbia! They actually send a "menu" with their interview invite and you get to pick exactly what you want to eat/drink. Then, when you go, you get your own little bag with your name on it. No "hey, do you know what's in that one?" around the sandwich tray 🙂
I second that. Their menu had healthy and tasty options, including seafood, and a variety of wraps. Many of the options came with chips and avocado (yum).

The top 3 so far are:
Columbia
1. (5)- the menu was fantastic. The food was tasty and healthy
2. (3)- Could have been better. We ate in the lounge, which is not the greatest looking place. Furthermore, we ate at a long table so we were only able to have conversations with people sitting adjacent to us.
3. (5) Plenty of option: included seafood, great wraps, and sandwiches.
Holistic:9

NYU
1. (4)-wraps and sandwiches were pretty good. They also had some delicious, fluffy brownies
2. (4)- We ate in a conference room, which made it easy to have conversations.
3. (3)- Not too much variety when it comes to the entree. Though we had plenty of pastries to chose from.
Holistic-8.5

Mount Sinai
1. (4) -- Decent sandwiches and great oatmeal cookies.
2. (4)- Same as NYU
3. (3) Options were limited.
Holistic-8

--almost forgot that Sinai provided bagels, coffee, and OJ in the morning. So

Holistic-9 (breakfast was an icebreaker and it is the reason that so many M1-M4 came by to talk to the interviewees)

hmm. i wonder what spicy ketchup is
Ohh my GOD!

It was seriously the best ketchup I have ever had in my entire life. Probably one of the best things I have ever tasted.

USC/Keck gives you the best food in an awesome atmosphere with private servers. The food is kinda simple (sandwich, salad or pasta I think) but the way they do it is just to DIE for.

It was my first interview and I really got spoiled because no school has ever come close to that since.

BTW I am going to USC for the ketchup (just kidding...kinda).

I loved UMD's apple sandwich!
