Clearly child is not a winner. I would expect future physicians who are in 4th grade to be able to search for porn without getting caught. Most likely auto-reject from all MD schools, DO is still possible assuming that they do >10 years of community service between now and applying. Thankfully this serious infraction happened now instead of when they were in high school. Caribbean is always an option though. Don't let the naysayers fool you, there is still maybe a 70% chance of becoming an MD! But in all seriousness, why are you still associating with non-winners OP?

I highly doubt the kid was looking at child porn, lol.

Hahah wait now I'm curious...if a kid looks at child porn, do they get in just as much trouble as an adult?? I mean, they're really not a predator since it'd be people their own age...

AFAIK they don't. Not that you can find child porn on any computer or browser someone who's only 12 will use.

True. Although there are some pretty devious kids out there.

Edit: also, I love your signature haha I was in PhiDE and that is so, so true.

Or worse! What if a child looks at another child!? And impersonates a physician while doing so?! Felonious conduct indeed...

"Studies suggest as many as one-fourth or more of all teens are directly involved in sexting, while as many as half have seen inappropriate “sexts” of one kind or another."

The ****?? I must have been the most innocent teen ever, I didn't even know what sexting was until like 2 years ago.

I was no goody two-shoes during my teenage years, but I feel like a saint compared to teens nowadays.

Ok, I think your ship hasn't totally sunk. It's taking on water so you're going to have to work to keep it afloat.

I'd start by first publicly admitting you have a sexual addiction. Rehab may or may not help but it will look good on your CV and you could play it as a sort of "Phoenix" moment on your personal statement, SAT writing section or summer essay. Maybe next semester, you can enroll in some water-painting classes and do some great pieces on your growth as a person using a non-toxic media.

It also goes without saying that volunteering is a must, must, must now and should fill in a good portion of your time. Try maybe serving at a homeless shelter, women's safety shelter, soup kitchen, hallway monitor for lunchtime. Anything can help.

With that being said, you will completely shoot yourself in the foot and kiss your chances at med school goodbye if you so much as get a <27 on MCAT, <1800 on SAT or "check minus" on handwriting. Essentially, you just forfeited any rites of passage between now and admission day. This is your future kid and it's time to take ownership.

Pictures of naked boys and girls could be considered child porn... to paraphrase a famous jurist on the definition of pornography, "I know it when I see it." Kids sexting have been charged with child porn. There was quite a bit about it in the news media last fall. Also see:

In my high school after I left, there was a huge problem because on yik yak (an anonymous group messaging app where anyone in a geographic area can see anyone else's posts) there was an instance of a boy Uploading a picture a girl had sent him (naked). So there was this weird problem where basically everyone at the school with the app and had looked at it had received child porn. As it turns out the picture was also sent between a lot of people so maybe like a couple dozen students had this picture (and others) on their phone. This was in the freshmen class so everyone involved was a minor. It was a terrible instance of cyber bullying and I was disgusted by it in that regard (the sexting didn't bother me since everyone was the same age about) but I wonder what the discussion in the admin office was like that day when deciding how to handle it

I can't believe yik yak allowed a naked picture to be uploaded!
Also, that poor girl. What a nasty thing to do. Not to victim blame, but this is why taking nude pictures and sending them to ANYONE, even your SO, is never a good idea.

Luckily for me, I grew up in the era where having a 0.2 megapixel camera on your cell phone was considered top of the line and you could reasonable argue that the titty pics you had on your phone were just pixelated potatoes.

I don't recall of it was YY or another app. I do remember this was earlier in the 2010s so I don't think precautions existed against this on the app end
