I think it might be a good idea for future test takers if we write down all the FL's we took (in order if possible) and the scores. That way people can know how different FL's rate (GS,TBR,AAMC,KAPLAN,TPR)

anyone game? I'll go first (Posted from my excel sheet)

Type # P- V- B - Date

Come on people! It would be nice to do this. I remember always having to search up peoples score comparisons !

AAMC #3 (5/12) - 31 (12P 10V 9B)
AAMC #4 (5/19) - 36 (12P 11V 13B)
AAMC #5 (5/26) - 33 (10P 11V 12B)
AAMC #7 (6/2) - 33 (10P 11V 12B)
Kaplan FL 1 (6/16) - 28 (9P 9V 10B)
Kaplan FL 2 (6/23) - 36 (12P, 12V, 12B)
Kaplan FL 3 (6/30) - 35 (12P, 10V, 13B)
Kaplan FL 4 (7/15) - 33 (11P, 10V, 12B)
AAMC #8 (7/21) - 36 (12P, 13V, 11B)
AAMC #9 (7/28) - 37 (12P, 11V, 14B)
AAMC #10 (8/04) - 37 (12P, 12V, 13B)
AAMC #11 (8/11) - 39 (14P, 10V, 15B)

I should note that on Kaplan FL 2+ I switched out Kaplan's VR section for TPRH verbal workbook's tests and scored the results using AAMC #10's scaling chart as per suggestions I've seen on these forums. If I scored them according to all the other AAMC's scales though the scores on FL 2 and 3 would be one point higher.

I'll be updating this once a week since that's how often I take a new FL.

Was the kaplan test considerably harder than the AAMC's you've taken thus far or were you simply burnt out ?

It was considerably harder. The PS in particular was brutal. It seemed like every question wanted me to do lengthy calculations, and as such I started running out of time so I had to guess on so many I lost count. TBH I'm surprised that I did as "well" on that PS as I did.

VR is, well, Kaplan VR so I'm not really concerned about my score in that section on these FLs. Still, it's pretty funny that an 85% in VR on this test nets you a 9 whereas a 50% on PS also nets you a 9.

I don't know what went wrong in BS. I felt pretty good about that section when I did it. I guess I'll know when I review that section later today.

As for being burnt out, it's possible, but I don't study a terribly large amount per day and lately I've played a few PC games to have some entertainment in my life, and took a few days off after I delayed my test after taking AAMC 7 so I shouldn't be burned out.

great job! keep it up!!

BTW guys, I recommend GS tests= cheap and decent for sciences.

I am taking a FL every 2-3 days right now. By the time I'm done, 8 AAMC, 10 GS, 5 TBR =]

I wasn't going to do my last 4 aamc (8,9,10,11) until 2 weeks before my MCAT, but I think I might do 8 sometime this week. I've done 7-8 FL since my last AAMC haha

That's a ton of practice tests! You should be good to go :]

I only remember the composite scores from my three FL practice tests (it's been over a year).

AAMC 9: 43
AAMC 11: 34
Average FL score: 39

The real deal MCAT: 39 (12 PS, 12 VR, 15 BS)

Man, I keep thinking I do better on the PS of GS exams but I'm doing better on the BS. I always feel like crap after them and do fairly well, and feel good about PS and do ehh.

Keep doing FL's guys!
I'm excited to do AAMC8 soon, to see how I've improved !

haha congrats! Keep it up! I'm still updating my original post with scores every other day! Gonna finish GS-6 Soon. on break =]

I guess I'll keep a post updated here as well, since I'll be taking quite a few of the practice tests over the next 3 months. I've only taken AAMC 3 so far before doing any prep as a benchmark.

AAMC #3 [06/21/12] 32 (PS 10, VR 12, BS 10)

Wow great job man! a 32 is awesome before content before studying. Just study hard, review well and you could get a 38+++

LOL, I was actually shocked, I felt for sure like I was in for another 28-30 range score. I never scored better than a 10 in EK BIo 30 minute exams except for once. I definitely didn't feel like I did that well, I actually had a good portion of the test down to 2 answers, and then just made an educated guess and solved an entire physics passage just using physical intuition because I forgot the formula! I also completely changed my BS study strategy which was apparently helpful lol. I'm taking another FL tomorrow, only 2 weeks until test day for me, so I'll be taking one every 2 days.

What FL is hardest? I want to get that one done sooner rather than later. I've heard 7 is up there, is that true?

PS: yes, I'm doing science workbook, that was part of my strategy change. I ditched TBR Bio passages against popular opinion and decided to start working through the TPRH BS passages, especially doing all advanced passages. Those advanced passages make the AAMC look like a cakewalk lol.

Ahh nice, I see !

I did TBR/EK1001/EK 30 Mins and NOW I'm doing TPRH too!

Problem is my 2008 Science Workbook doesn't tell me which passages are the advanced ones :/

As for Fl's, do you mean AAMC ones? I'm not sure then because I've only taken the first 4. I've heard 10,11 are the hardest but you should save those for last because there the most representative

I'm taking a FL every other day too. Tomorrow I'm taking my first AAMC after 8 different FL's so I'm excited to see if I do good.

Here are my test scores so far in the order I've taken them:

Diagnostic - 11/5/8 - 24
AAMC 3 - 11/10/10 - 31
AAMC 4 - 11/9/10 - 30
Kaplan 2 - 12/9/14 - 35
Kaplan 3 - 13/10/14 - 37
AAMC 5 - 12/10/10 - 32
AAMC 7 - 10/11/12 - 33
Kaplan 4 - 12/11/14 - 37
Kaplan 5 - 12/12/15 - 39
AAMC 8 - 11/10/10 - 31
AAMC 9 - 14/10/12 - 36
AAMC 10 - 13/10/12 - 35
AAMC 11 - 14/10/12 - 36

Actual: 14/10/12 - 36R

Edit: Took another AAMC, and it seems like I need to do a bit more content review. Seems my biology/chemistry are a bit lacking :(

Edit 2: It took me 6 AAMC tests to realize why I was getting so many questions wrong... not reading the question/answer choices fully! After forcing myself to re-read questions twice, and thoroughly looking through the answer choices, I feel more confident in my answers now.

Edit 3: Finally got my actual score back, and I'm pleased to say that I hit my target goal. I just want to emphasize that the AAMC practice tests are a VERY good indicator of your actual score.

Thanks! It was a pretty pleasant surprise but I'm gonna chalk it up to the fact that I took my prereqs within the last 2 years haha.

Ahh I'm scared! Doing my first AAMC in 9 FL's today. I postponed because I wasn't doing as well as I wanted. I really hope the extra studying has helped! I'm scared, if I do the same as I was doing before, I'm going to be pissed!

Kaplan #6 - 37: (11 PS, 12 VR, 14 BS)

Not really sure what to make of this, those curves are pretty forgiving.. lol

I'm about 3/4 through content.. although I'm a re-taker (had an AAMC & Kaplan average around 31 last year, but didn't take all of Kaplan FL's)

From my 30+ score post.

AAMC 4: 30 (10/10/10) Right after content review
AAMC 5: 35 (13/12/10)
AAMC 7: 33 (11/11/11)
AAMC 8: 36 (13/10/13)
AAMC 9: 36 (13/11/12)
AAMC 11: 33 (11/11/11)
AAMC 10: 33 (11/11/11)

Final.

34 R
PS: 12, VR: 11, BS: 11.

I find it a little funny that I never got a 34 in practice (though I got the range 33, then 35 and 36), but got it on the real deal. Also interesting that I never got a 12 PS in practice.

From my scores, it looks like 7, 10, and 11 are the best predictors.

AAMC 5: 12/11/11 -- 34
AAMC 7: 13/11/12 -- 36

Nice scores, did you take your real MCAT yet?

AAMC 3 -- 8/9/12 (29) -- One week into studying. Didn't even study physics/chem yet
AAMC 4 -- 11/9/10 (30) -- After a week of pounding physics and chem
AAMC 5 -- 10/10/10 (30)
AAMC 7 -- 13/8/13 (34) -- I could care less about the 34... that 8 concerns me
AAMC 6 -- 11/10/13 (34)
AAMC 8 -- 10/11/11 (32)

AAMC Average: 31.5

I try not to count AAMC 3 because I barely did any content review. 4-8 are more indicative of how I'll perform on my MCAT I hope. BS & PS are solidly 10-13 every time. I'm hoping I do well on verbal on test day!

Signed up for the July 14 MCAT. I still got 8 and 9 before then.

Ahh dude sweet. I'm also taking July 14th mcat. I did those 6 GS exams and just took AAMC8 and didn't do as well as I'd like to. Hopefully I do better on my next AAMC (9). By the way do you remember the order in whch you took all your exams?

Nice! I'm sure you'll do well on the real thing -- your scores on GS sciences are excellent.

All my information from GS got deleted by accident (fortunately I wrote down my scores in a notebook), so I don't have the dates I took their tests. But I know I took AAMC 3, 11 and 10 before them, back in February and March. I took most of the GS exams after those three and before AAMC 4, and have been mixing in AAMCs as I completed the final couple GS tests.

BTW, I've read multiple threads and testimonials stating most students score around +1 to +2 per section on the real MCAT than they do the GS sections. It's believable -- many of the sections in GS are loaded with the "Intense" questions, where 98% of test-takers get it wrong.

Of course, diagnostics aside, working through 500 extra PS and BS practice questions certainly can't hurt.

I thought I was in good shape too, but I got an 11 on AAMC8 on Physical sciences. I was a bit off during the test but meh... thought it was hard. Hopefully, the next aamc is much easier, or I do much better =]

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it -- I think everybody has a hiccup here and there. Just make sure to learn what you can from your mistakes and, if possible, improve on those areas the next time around.

What did you do to bring PS up so much. I've been stuck at 10/11

AAMC #3 (5/02/2012) - 24 (7P 11V 6B)
AAMC #4 (6/25/2012) - 29 (8P 12V 9B)

I took AAMC #3 before starting any studying. I'm behind schedule since my MCAT is next week (July 6), but I'm happy with the improvement in BS considering all I've done to study for that so far is read the first 2 chapters of Examkrackers and watch the first Gold Standard video and haven't looked over any organic yet. I'm also happy with the consistency in VR so far, meaning I can spend more time focusing on PS and BS. I'm disappointed with my minor increase in PS considering I've spent the most time studying for that so far, although that's been mainly focused on physics and I just recently started looking over general chemistry.

Just took AAMC 8.
(PS 12, VR 12, BS 10  )
Not sure what happened to BS, after 13 on #10 and #4. I have been mainly focusing on bringing PS up, but now BS dropped. Is this much fluctuation common?

TPR Practice Test 4: 10 PS/9 VR/12 BS
TPR Practice Test 5: 10 PS/9 VR/12 BS
TPR Demo Test------: 12 PS/7 VR/10 BS

I've been practicing VR a lot but I swear my scores don't really budge in VR... Are the VR sections really hard in these? Really worried about lack of VR improvement despite the fact that I "feel" like I'm getting better.
