I think it might be a good idea for future test takers if we write down all the FL's we took (in order if possible) and the scores. That way people can know how different FL's rate (GS,TBR,AAMC,KAPLAN,TPR)

anyone game? I'll go first (Posted from my excel sheet)

Starting tomorrow I'll be doing an AAMC (6-11) every other week day through test day, with FL reviews and ~5 passage timed verbal practice on the days I'm not taking FLs. My goal is to get a 40. Hopefully I can break through into that range a couple more times in the upcoming weeks. 10 days after my test I'm starting my study abroad in Buenos Aires for a semester and not taking a single science class. I cannot wait to let my mind relax.

GS average around ~30 (started off around 29 from GS 1-4 and from 5-8 started scoring around ~32, mostly verbal improvements)
AAMC average around ~30 for 3&4, ~36 for all the ones after that

In general GS is much more calculation heavy for PS (I'm always strapped for time here, whereas I finish with some time left on AAMCs usually), for BS they will have a couple more random memorization things but overall very similar to AAMC ones (a bit harder in their question format), and for VR their questioning style feels very different. VR passages themselves are great and are longer than most AAMCs (probably same as the actual MCAT ones) but there is usually 1 questionable answer per exam. Sometimes you'll run into a question for a section and you'll definitely feel that you'd never run into that on the real deal, probably right but good practice anyway. Most of their questions are good, also a better price than most practice exams.

I took the 7/26/12 exam and my predication before test was ~34/35 and after I got out: ~27... ugh all that work. I will keep you guys posted on how it turns out :/:luck:

If you don't mind me asking, how did your final score turn out?

I've taken the test before (P10/V7/B11 = 28 (I ended up flustered with the first PS passage and barely finished. I also guessed on the final Verbal passage as I ran out of time)) and have taken all of the AAMC exams so I'm using BR FLs and AAMC #3, 10, and 11. AAMC #3 for diagnostic score and #10 and #11 to just get a feel for the actual exam.

Here are my scores:
AAMC #3: 10-9-12
TPR #3: (randomly took this because I know it was harder) 10/7/11
BR1: 9-12-12
BR2: 12-9-12
BR3: 11-7-11
BR4: 11-12-12

From my 30+ post:

3: 11 PS, 10 VR, 9 BS (30 - diagnostic)
4: 13 PS, 12 VR, 10 BS (35)
5: 11 PS, 11 VR, 10 BS (32)

10: 14 PS, 11 VR, 11 BS (36)
11: 13 PS, 11 VR, 14 BS (38)

Real deal: 13 PS, 12 VR, 15 BS (40)

awesome. what do you attribute to your jump from 4/5 to the rest? I'm only asking because I have similar scores to you (4 - 34, 5 - 32, 7-35, 8-39) except for AAMC 9 which I got a 33, and I would like to hit upper 30s in the next 2

By #7, I had pretty much completed my content review. After #7, my content review involved going over my weak spots, namely the things I missed in the AAMC FLs and some others I took (Kaplan). My weakest spot was Orgo, and I used Chad's videos to hit those weak spots. I got a little lucky on the test, as it was weak on orgo. I think if I took the MCAT 10 times, I'd average about a 38, not a 40.

I am wondering if you had the dates for these? After searching every forum on the planet, it seems I have finally found someone who had basically the same scores as me for those first 4 AAMCs you took--I made an account just to post this lol. I am debating whether I should take AAMC8-11 over the next few weeks (actual is June 21, most recent was the AAMC7 which I got a 25, it was 8, 8, 9, before that was AAMC5 10, 9, 10) or if I should mix it up with a free GS before doing that. Tomorrow I am going to take my first test in a couple weeks since doing the AAMC SAPs and I am wondering how much time you took between AAMC 7 and AAMC 8-11 and what you did to help? Thanks!

If I recall correctly I started the TPR FLs around mid July, and went straight from those to the AAMCs with only a day or 2 in between each of them up until my test day. I know there was a pretty big disparity between my AAMC 7 and 8, but they were taken within 3 days of each other. It was all dumb luck. I had some pretty glaring weaknesses in my content knowledge, which is why my FL range was so large.

The best piece of advice I could give with your test this close (aside from take every test you can get your hands on) is review the tests like crazy! Just taking them only serves as a score indicator. You should dissect each exam afterwords to find out EXACTLY why you missed every question you did, and even review ones you got correct. Try and explain to yourself WHY all the wrong answers are wrong. There are no "dumb mistakes," you missed that question for a reason. I kept a word document as I reviewed questions and wrote down any content that I would need to remember, any equations, or anything else helpful that could be quickly reviewed in the future.

Awesome, thanks for the super quick reply as well. Yeah my tests have been super spread out, but I've done a lot of content for the past week and a half so I think I am ready to dive in again. After the 25 on AAMC7 I was shocked so I started reviewing much more thoroughly and decided to do the SAPs, which were SUPER helpful. I will post scores after this next exam, and for AAMC 8-11 which I will start taking every 3rd day beginning Monday.

Leave yourself plenty of time to review AAMC 10 and 11, like 2 maybe 3 days. You want to know that style inside and out because they are very different than the previous AAMCs. While content is an essential part of the MCAT, I think most people (or myself at least) overestimate how much needs to be done. I jumped up 5 points in BS between my MCATs and I didn't read that much content. Its all about practice. Do as many passages as you can stomach, and review them like crazy. I sort of saw the answer explanations as content review, particularly in TBR (since some of those explanations are a whole page).

keep this thread going a little

so far my scores are

AAMC#4 - 10/11/11 — (32)

AAMC#5 - 12/10/12 — (34)
