going by feel verbal

I just did AAMC 10 and got my best verbal score (11), but for a lot of the questions I simply went by what sounded most correct based on what I read. In previous tests, I've been spending time trying to find the exact detail in the passage. However, this time I tried just going by gut feel, only referring back to the passage for specific detail questions. Has anyone else tried this with good results?
