hSDN Class of 2012

In my neck of the woods, I've gotten over my anger at the high school over the whole schedule thing. Now, I'm annoyed with the post office. All of the freshmen at my college are supposed to get a new student guide which includes a sign up sheet for summer pre-orientation weekends. They fill up quickly, so you're supposed to send it in quickly. Mostly everyone has got theirs, except for myself and a few others. Now, I'm left doing this:

(On a side-note, I have no idea who came up with the idea for that GIF)

Is there no other way to enroll? Most colleges have online registration.

They have a PDF of the form online. The problem is that you need to put your student ID# on the form in order to register. And my ID#, ironically, is in the packet.

So, you can't get that online? That sucks, I'm sorry.

No biggie. If I can do one of the weekends, great. If not, whatever. I'm just hoping USPS can pull off the miracle of delivering it today.

EDIT: And they did it.

Hey, I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if any of you guys got accepted into any BS/MD programs. So did any of you?

None of us did, or even tried (I think).

Just out of curiosity, why didn't any of you guys apply to USF's BS/MD program? It does not have as stringent of rules as do other BS/MD programs. Is it because its not one of the more honorable or better programs out there? Just curious, and would really appreciate it if you guys could maybe list you stats. If you have already done so in other threads, please guide me to them. Thanks.

Hey, guys. When do you graduate?

I'll be graduating the day after tomorrow! Congratulations on a great year to all of you!

1. Didn't want to.

2. No. See answer 1.

3. Uh, they're somewhere in this thread I think...

Doxorubicin: May 13th. Pre-Congratulations!

Have any of you ever heard of the band Workday Release? They sound great. They're pretty Matt Nathansonesque so, if you don't like that stuff, be wary.

I'm not done yet (one of these days I'll learn how to code and make an arc reactor clock) but bam!

Nice. I really like Starlight Night too. Have you heard of Joshua Radin? He has a similar-ish sound, though he's a bit more folk-ish in certain songs. I like his stuff a lot, especially What If You, Today, and Everything'll Be Alright.

I thought that he sounded familiar! When Ben dies on Scrubs, he sings the song playing during the funeral

:) I'm tired.... and a little mad that my turtle beaches suck energy from my Macbook this fast.... oh well.

Oh crap i almost forgot i graduated good bye hsdn membership hello hsdn alumni!!!

 You sly silver-haired subtle stealing sentinel(couldn't think of a better S word to complete my alliteration)!

I'm now T minus 4 (possibly 3 pending exemptions) days away from completing my K-12 school career. This is going to be an interesting week, to be sure.

Long, long, long, LONG-time no see.

I don't think I've been on here since the beginning of the school year or so it seems. How did the year go for everyone? Everyone got it all figured out for undergrad and the summer before?

I'll tell you my year was really up and down. I was pretty severely depressed for the first half of the year through new years and it was really tough on my schoolwork. I lost my grandmother right at the beginning of the year shortly after our birthdays and this made it all worse. I picked it up though late in the second quarter and for the rest of the year after that and everything is going better. I'll be attending the University of New Hampshire for Sports Studies which is a Kinesiology track. I still plan on being pre-med and I'm excited to start fresh and meet all the new people there. From what I'm told there is a hospital about 10 minutes away so that'll be good for volunteering and internship positions. I'm currently trying to find a paying job for the summer so I can call my local hospital and try to get a volunteering position. I would do that now but money comes first and I'll need something for spending money next year.

AWESOME NIGHT tonight!

First went down to the Casino. Won $350.

Then had a cuban cigar with the parents and chatted, it was awesome.

I love vacation!

Ah ok I remember you as Gamma Knife. And I think it's the fact we're getting out for the summer and the reality of college is getting that much closer. Before we know it we'll (hopefully) be at the foot of our dream medical schools.

I'm just so glad to be out of school on Wednesday. Last anatomy lab practical tomorrow which will serve as the last 3rd of my final. This one is going to be rather difficult as it's on the arteries and veins and some of them seem to not be there. The other 2/3rds were a 30 page power point on Erdheim Chester Disease and a 70 question multiple choice portion. I did well on both of those so I can afford to not do so great tomorrow which I know I won't although I'll give it my best. Also got the 2nd half of my Physics II final tomorrow, did real well today on the first half. I'm glad my teachers are giving us this stuff in class instead of making us come in on the finals days on Thursday/Friday.

How have you been aside from the good night at the casino?

Pretty good man, pretty good. I was accepted to UofM and am going there this fall. I got my eagle scout finally (30 days before the deadline lol).

I took a biology course at a university during the spring and got an A. I butchered the final, but I did so well on the other 4 tests that I kept my A. The class just so happened to cut into 30 minutes of my AP english class on M-W-F so I had to make up a TON of work at the end of the year including a 20 page research paper (that sucked).

I took calc this year and got my first C+ ever because of senioritis. I picked up the slack though and got A's for the other two.I had 5 calculus finals that I owned, and took the AP test because I signed up for it then realized that taking it would be pointless for what I want to do.

..And I graduated. So all in all pretty good.

Do you have any notable stories from your SDN absence?

Welcome back, Connel! Good to see ya! Glad that you finished the year on the upswing, even though the first half definitely sounds pretty rough. My year was okay, college stuff had me stressed out the wazoo for a while, but I survived and everything is settled now :) Graduating in T-minus 8 days and life is good. :)

Good to hear Cephal0pod. I graduate the 5th but classes end Wednesday. What are your plans for school next year?

And INS, not anything significant for the most part. I've just been trudging along trying to make the year go by as fast as possible as I've been fed up with my school and the people in it for a long time.

I thought about taking college courses this summer but then I saw the prices and I do not want to pay $10,000 to take a 6 week course although I would think it'd be cool to take a class or two at Harvard. I'd rather make money for next year and get volunteer hours in which is why I'm looking for a job now.

At Christmas time I got my first turntable/controller to start DJing with. I've wanted to do it for a while now and my brother has been at it for a few years. We're both really big into electronic music and I want to start making my own music this summer too. I feel it'd be a good hobby to get into and explore my creative side a bit. It'll also give me something to do at college and make some friends along the way while doing it. Just have to be careful and manage my time well and not be caught out at parties all the time which shouldn't be a problem anyways.

What are you majoring at UofM, and is that Michigan? Congrats on the acceptance. I haven't thought yet about what courses I'll take freshman year but I'm about to start thinking about it since course selection sheets are due at the time of orientation (June 15th) at UNH. I obviously know the pre-reqs but I'm not sure as to which to take first and how many. Should we do the 4 sciences in the first 2 years so we can study the material during the 3rd? Or do 1-2-1 or some combination of the sorts.

I never knew that you did DJ stuff, thats really cool!

I'm stuck on what I want to major in right now. Comp Science, Physics, Business (because Ross is a spectacular business school and I haven't explored it all that much), or Chemistry. I'm going to try to learn some coding over the summer and see if I'm interested in it (my comp programing class was pretty fun, but I think I need more than that...). As for science, I'm taking Physics 1 first year for sure. Maybe Orgo 1 second semester or even just next year. I already am done with Chem 1 and 2 and Bio 1 so that feels good. And I want to take the old MCAT so I'll have to have most if not all of them done by summer of my sophomore year and take it that summer.

Well it's certainly nice for you to have those done already. I'll most likely end up taking one of them during the summer to have more time to review everything. I'm just a bit afraid of memorizing the information for 3 years for those classes we take freshman year. I guess that's why they say that the MCAT requires studying about 6 hours a day for 3 months straight before the test to do well. Those numbers sound completely unachievable at the moment but I'm sure it'll change eventually.

I need to get to work on this Sociology final project of mine though, I'll be back in a bit.
