Jacobi Medical Center’s Craniofacial/Surgical Orthodontic Fellowship is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 year. Our post-residency fellowship in surgical and craniofacial orthodontics is one of only seven CODA-accredited fellowships in the country. We are located in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, NY, and we offer graduate orthodontists a broad range of clinical opportunities to treat cases with exceptional complexity. Our graduates have gone on to become faculty in both orthodontic and oral surgery and are members of cleft/craniofacial teams, but we also have a significant number of private practice orthodontists who apply their fellowship education, setting them apart from their orthodontic peers.

The fellowship comes with a stipend, set according to PGY level, with zero tuition or fees. Fellows received a variety of employment benefits, including full medical, prescription drug, supplement health, dental, and vision coverage, stipends for meals, CE, educational expenses, legal services and childcare. We offer a one-year full-time fellowship and a two-year part-time fellowship, with preference given to part-time fellows to maximize the number of cases that can be started and completed.

The program has been open since 2012, and each fellow treats their own roster of cases that include:
  • All stages of cleft lip and palate
  • Nasoalveolar molding with 3D printed guided models
  • Neonatal ear molding using custom stents
  • Surgical orthodontics for congenital deformities, acquired deformities and airway restriction using techniques including:
  • Traditional brackets and wires
  • Aligners
  • Surgery First
  • Fully guided surgery with patient-specific plating
Fellows work in a multidisciplinary team setting, learning all stages of surgical treatment, from treatment planning, through virtual surgical planning, and retention. Additionally, Jacobi Medical Center hosts the NYC Health + Hospital system’s only ACPA-approved Cleft Team, which the fellows become an intimate part of.

Whether you plan on private, hospital/university-based, or academic practice, our fellowship is an opportunity to learn how to treat the most complex cases possible.

Visit Jacobidental.org to apply or email [email protected] for more information.

Application requirements are a completed program application (Ortho application | Jacobi Dental), CV, a short personal statement, and copies of your dental school diploma and transcript.
