Does anyone know how long it takes them to make a decision post dec 1st interviews?
I got interviewed last 12/14, they told me that they will let us know the result on or before 12/22, since after that, NYU will be on Christmas break.

I interviewed on 12/14 and still have not received anything, My friend who interviewed on 12/02, received an update on 12/20. so I am sure it is coming. ADCOM said that they will let us know before the end of this week. So hopefully soon so I don't have to put down a deposit for Tufts. My friend said that she received it around 5:30PM

If any one know how many seats being accepted or remaining after first round of offers?

is Fb group real one? there r hardly 50 members in the group for over 300 seats?
Which makes a lot of sense, since the 375ish seats are not full yet. These people who are in the group are the ones who are accepted last December. You will not see 350 plus till after May or June probably.

Do you mean only 50 students accepted offers so far?

Do you guys know what happens if you missed a phone call? Do they move on, or?

Did anyone receive an interview invite this week? My application was complete the first week of September and still waiting for an interview.

I just did. I didn't complete my supplemental fee until last month, and I will be declining my interview invite!

It's around 600-650k, but people keep raising costs to 700-800k.
According to NYU's website, this is what the cost is:

(Tution + Living expenses)
D1: $102,861 + $41,604
D2: $102,160 + $41,604
D3: $102,160 + $41,604
D4: $102,160 + $38,138
Total: $572,291
HOWEVER, this is without interest.

If you want to know how much you will graduate, with interest, it becomes the following:
D1: [$102,861 + $41,604](1.07^4)
D2: [$102,160 + $41,604](1.07^3)
D3: [$102,160 + $41,604](1.07^2)
D4: [$102,160 + $38,138](1.07)
Total with interest: $680,195

But that's not all. The school historically hikes up the tuition prices 5% or more every year. So that $680k is actually an underestimate. If you add in the yearly tuition hikes, the grand total will easily be between $700-800k.
So, those "people" who keep "raising the cost to 700-800k" are totally right.

If this number doesn't scare you, it should. It should scare the living hell out of you.

If you plan to have your "debt forgiven", I hope you also save up $1,000,000 or so for the impending tax bomb you will receive.

great stats and they just announced fed is going to hike interest rates 4 times during 2022 due to inflation. Do you know how living expense is calculated? how much rent in NY and if it can be half if shared accommodation with some one?

Probably the living costs factors in rent + food + insurances + gas + car associated costs, etc. I'm not too familiar with NY so I can't answer that directly. But it is the most expensive city to live in in the USA, and one of the most expensive cities in the world. So it's not farfetched to estimate the costs would be between $3,000 and $4,000 per month.

Just remember youre anticipating around $800k in debt with interest during these uncertain times. Unless youre willing to drop 2-5 year contract in rural midwest, dont expect to pay off the debt any time soon.
No way in hell you could pay this debt off in 2-5 years with a contract in the Rural Midwest.

Is that the reason NYU and for that matter many schools have filled in very limited seats so far?
Is cost coming into play or just how it works and more seats get filled later in the cycle?

I mean these prices aren't exclusive to NYU. Dental school, in general, is expensive af unless you end up in a public school. Columbia is virtually the same price but no one ever bats an eye on it like NYU. The only difference cost wise when attending NYU compared to any other private dental school is cost of living. But that could easily be lowered depending on where/ how you want to live.

Predatory schools like NYU are certainly not the norm. Sure, they aren't the only one. But I never said they were. The topic here is NYU.

This is the average cost for a couple schools ripped off from Adea
Upenn 77,600 + 22,201 (fees)= 99,901
Columbia 79,860 + 14,937 = 94, 979
Asdoh 82,032+ 17,963= 99,995
Nova- 70,086+ 20,847 = 90,933
Nyu- 85,288+ 9,773= 95,061
Mid Az- 80,118+ 19,160= 99,278
Loma linda- 83, 397+ 16,453= 99, 850
Harvard- 63,400+ 21,195= 84, 595
I excluded cost of living bc it is so variable depending on where you want to live. The first price is tuition, second is books/fees. I get what your saying that NYU is expensive, but literally, every private dental school falls into this range. I always see posts knocking NYU's price disregarding every other dental school which makes it seem like NYU is an outlier in price. According to these numbers, NYU is not expensive but average AMONGST PRIVATE SCHOOLS.

Not sure what your point is. This is a thread about NYU.

its okay, I 100% see your point and agree that a lot of the hate is unwarranted when it comes to the cost of NYU. There are TONS of other private schools in that same price range. some people are just stubborn even when given concrete facts and numbers and just like to pick on NYU.

For those who interviewed, should both the professional photo and photo ID be JPEGS? Or only the professional photo?

I submitted a headshot (that I took myself a few years ago) in JPEG.
I actually never submitted my photo ID... That requirement disappeared after a week or two...
