Does anyone prefer the super c-arm over the GE 9900? Is it worth the cost?

I’ve never used the Super C.

I've used a 9400, 9600, a few Comeds, and now super-C 9800s. The super-C 9800s are by far the best. I really like how easy it is for staff to maneuver the arm around the table. The pictures are top notch. One issue we have run into is that we put pretty significant hours on our machines and do a good amount of kyphoplasty. The machine that has seen the most kypho cases started to have problems with wires breaking between the base unit and the collimator. This leads to collimation issues that can sabotage a case. For example, you try to cone in and the collimator closes entirely and won't reopen. There are multiple redundant wires, but you need a tech to take the thing apart and swap them around. Eventually you run out of wires. This wouldn't be a huge problem if you could unplug the bundle from the x-ray source and swap the whole cable. We can't do that because the screw in cable conduit thing is stuck. Our tech is worried it will break the x-ray glass if he attempts to muscle it open. We have occasional other glitches that require a reset of the machine, but overall we have been very happy with the equipment and service.

I just bought a brand new GE 9900. It have to say it's great. Expensive, but great. The only thing I don't like, is there's a little more wobble than I'd like in the arm itself. If the operator isn't gentle enough sometime you have to wait a second until your pic is clear from the vibration, but in general, it's a great machine. Considering my last one was a 2002 Phillips BV pulsera, the upgrade is like going from a '80s For escort to a Porsche 911.

What is Super C-arm anyways? Is it a program or configuration you can add to an existing C-arm, or is it an actual C-arm model? What's the benefit of the Super C-arm?

So what is everyone's thoughts on using an OEC 9600 versus an OEC 9800 Super C for doing bread-and-butter spinal injections? Do you think an OEC 9800 Super C is worth the extra cost versus that of an OEC 9600? Why or why not? Does it matter which software configuration the C-arm comes programmed with (i.e. SP, GSP, ESP, vascular, neurovascular, cardiac, etc.) if one is interested in doing just pain management procedures?

Get the Super-C. My experience is with 9900 and the standard software. DSA upgrade was quoted at almost 10k so I balked. I do rare C TFs anyway. If you want to be the best you need to invest in yourself. Pros work with the best equipment in their field. 9800 at minimum.
