They live with chronic pain. They're treated like addicts.

“I’m looked at as an addict,” said Caito, 52, who said she has never abused the legal opioids she takes on a regular basis. “I feel this stigma every single day: You’re a chronic pain patient, you must be an addict.”

Is Dr. Kurt Kroenke justified believing this?

“By getting rid of prescribed opiates, I’m concerned about pulling the rug on the millions of Americans who have been on opiates,” Kroenke said. “I worry about the people who are on opiates for chronic pain and who are good citizens who are being pressured to be unilaterally withdrawn.

they have a choice to make. they don't have to take the opioids.

and in fact, if they manage their pain sans opioids, they will most likely be encouraged, glorified, put on a pedestal, etc.

Pain occurs whenever there is something wrong in the physical process of a body. It can be cured completely on time with the help of a right diagnosis. It is the responsibility of a doctor to look for the cure and make the patient feel comfortable.

And this is the problem with the lay public. Says pharmacist under her/her name, and clearly that means nothing toward understanding the problem at hand. Hey Robbin: explain migraine, CRPS, phantom limb, chronic pain.

That’s just not true. We can’t fix everything yet

Easy statement to make standing behind glass window of a pharmacy drive thru.

Reality of pain medicine is in fact very different. Shadow some pain specialist to learn more.

Hey, Robbin, meet 'chronic' pain. It's called chronic for a reason.
