I interviewed Thursday, February 3rd. I still have not received a reply from them. This worries me that someone that interviewed the day after I did already heard back, and I didn't :(.

By the way my interview was with an HIV clinical pharmacist, and in my opinion I think my interview went smoothly. She said she teaches the section on HIV in April for a P1 course. Did anybody else have her interview them? I wonder if the interviewers interview more than one student.

My stats are pretty good too
PCAT: 94
Cumulative GPA: 3.90
UIC prepharm GPA: 3.95
Independent research in a Biochemistry lab since September.

I'm also a UIC student.

Am I worrying for nothing? Ugh guess I'm not going to get a good night sleep, and I'm pretty sure I won't hear anything over the weekend so I'll be bummed out for the whole weekend also. I guess this is always better than receiving a reply early saying I got declined admission.

Sorry if this is at all intrusive, but what do your stats and EC's look like PharmDJoD?

I also interviewed on the 4th of February and I heard back the following Tuesday. I got in! Your stats are phenomenal. I am certain that you had to have gotten in!!!

Anybody going to Rockford?? I just mailed my deposit yesterday via priority mail. Do they send out an admissions packet afterwards? I am pretty sure they want immunizations and stuff

I am going to Rockford! I am from the area as well. Is anyone trying to find housing?

I am going to Rockford as well =) I havnet decided on housing yet since I am not familiar with the area at all.

Quick question: Do we get notified upon once they receive our deposit? I sent it via USPS Priority on wednesday and it says the delivery status is not updated yet!!! I am worried!

For those who got accepted to Chicago campus!!! Anyone looking for roommates?!?! :p

Interviewed 2/18, accepted the next week. Very cool, but now I'm torn... Because UIC is a better school, but I'm also accepted at UCSD in Cali. I'm from Oklahoma, so we know what bad weather is - but it's not COLD for a majority of the year. I guess I'm having an issue deciding whether or not I want to deal with the weather for 4 whole years or go somewhere that is (quite literally) the best weather in the country. And then again, I'm waiting to hear back from UCSF, so that'll really be my deciding factor...

But if any of you are from the Chicago area, do you have any tips concerning the weather? Advice? Out-of-staters: Are you ready for the weather?

I've been born and raised in Chicago my whole life. One thing that you will learn quickly is to always be prepared. Overall the cold is not that bad but the wind can make it feel a lot worse. Since Chicago is right by the lake, the wind gusts can be pretty big, but the parking structures are pretty close to the pharmacy building. We will each be getting our own locker, so at least we won't have to carry around our winter coats with us everywhere.

I just got accepted to the Rockford Campus!!!!!!!!

Class of 2015 here I come!!!!!!!

@ LovelyGirl98: do you mind if I ask you these questions?
"did you have interview at Rockford? When was your interview & did you choose "either one" or "Rockford campus" on the Supplemental Application?"

I'm still waiting for their response:(

I interviewed in Rockford and I chose "either" on the application.

Were your experiences similar?

How long does it usually take them to confirm that they received your deposit?

a while...

You could try emailing Ms. Fleming and ask to see if they got it.

I received an email that said they got my money soon after I sent it. I didn't send it in any special way. Just with a good old postal stamp:) I would call them and ask though, for sure!

I am very familiar with the area, so if you have any questions, please ask! I will send you a message with my email. For starters, do not choose any housing whose street names are numbers (8th street, 15th street, etc...). Good pricing. Rough area!!

Are you going to be looking for an apartment?? I'm trying to find another pharmacy student to room with.

So if anyone who is going to Rockford is looking for a roommate, please contact me:) Thanks!

I'm a 23 year old female that has all the complete furnishings. They are very nice, and I'm willing to share:)

Yes, I do want to get a place depending on the price of rent & utilities.

I'm a female as well...

And I'm a sucker for cleanliness.

But once you start getting to 20th street and up... the neighborhoods improve. :p

Rockfordites... get your own thread! This is Chicago!

jk :p

For people still interviewing at Chicago (or Rockford for that matter)-

A have a friend who had her interview very recently. The friend came to class that following evening and told me that it went horribly. The friend said the interviewer was not conversational or friendly and actually got up and escorted my friend to the door as my friend was trying to ask questions about UIC as if to abruptly end the interview. My friend was really bummed out during class but received an acceptance email the next day!!!

The point is, don't lose hope if your interview doesn't go as well as expected. Just because an interviewer may come across as rude doesn't mean they didn't like you.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing. They must be accepting more students at the Rockford campus this year than they did last year!

I know their current class of 2014 has 39 students... and their classrooms only allow 60 students.

I wouldn't be surprised if the class of 2015 has almost 50.

And I thought my interview went well.... but i've not heard anything back from them for 9 days...

I'm looking for roommates as well for the Chicago campus! :) What's the average price for rent in the area? Do you need a car or would it be easier to use public transportation?

Yeah my interviewer said that they were hoping to get around 50 people for 2015 and possibly more in the future as they work out any kinks with broadcasting the lectures, and any facility issues.

I did get in :) I heard back on February 16, thirteen days after my interview on February 3rd though only after a second interview over the phone. I posted about my experience.

I interviewed at Chicago and got accepted there.
I only checked the box for the Chicago campus.

I only applied to UIC so that means I got accepted to 100% of the schools I applied to haha

Quick question: Are we required to do anything until we receive the packet sometimes in April? Like send in transcript, immunizations ect? I got a receipt that they received the deposit but not sure what else are we supposed to do.

Quick question: Are we required to do anything

yeah, you are required to relax. be happy about your acceptance and enjoy the several months of freedom before you start pharmacy school. it's all exam exam exam from then on :D

Lol :D True that!!! I am excited to start Pharm school!!!

Surprisingly I got an interview invitation last night (about 11:20 pm) from Dr. T.

My stats is not an impressive one at all. I almost give up my hope with UIC. Right now typing these words, I still could not believe I could grant an interview with UIC.

Okay however, I still don't have the exact time and date for the interview yet. Here is the problem, I have to deposit to another school that I already got accepted this week. I'm in the dilemma situation, I don't know if I should go ahead and deposit to that school and be ready to lose that much of money when I get accepted to UIC!! :scared:

I read from the last year stats, they interviewed 400 and took 210 (Chicago & Rockford). But I don't think that information means they took 50% of the candidates. There could be a number of people who did not accept the offer!!

So I'm not sure how many percent of success that I could get after the interview with UIC? What do you guys think about the percent of acceptance when one is granted an interview (in your opinion, don't base on number and stats) ??

Thanks.

Where were you gonna put the deposit down if you don't mind me asking.

If you would chose UIC over the other school that you're applying to then I'd say losing $750-$1K is a small, comparatively, compared to what you will be spending on the entirety of your education. So for all that it's worth, and if you'd chose UIC over the other school, I'd say put your deposit down for the other school and see what happens with UIC.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I got accepted to MWU-CCP and RFU and I picked RFU to make the deposit.

Many people told me that losing $500 is nothing compare to how much I could save from attending UIC and also for a better program.

However, I'm unemployed right now. $500 to me is a lot! and later if I got accepted to UIC, then i have to find another $500. OMG.... :(

Well, do you mind to share your idea about how much success I could have after the interview with UIC?

Thanks again.

Does anyone get rejected or on-hold after the interview?

Do you mind sharing your stats? I am still on hold..wondering whether I should call UIC to ask whether they have sent all interview invitations yet?

I understand how you're feeling right now...
I'm still in school, not working right now...so I understand how big $500 is to you...:(
I also have to put down deposit for another school this week & haven't heard from UIC after the interview (exactly 2 weeks ago). Dr. T emailed me this morning & said it might take up to 1 month.
But as mcalabra3 said before, if you can get accepted to UIC later, $500 is nothing ..
Anyway, good luck!!! hope you'll make the right decision.

For me, if i won't hear back from UIC this week, I have to send the other school $500 check... :xf:

does anyone know how the lottery for the roations works? I heard someone talking about it on here and I'm just wondering exactly how this works and if you are usually able to get rotations where you would like to go.

I asked about it on the tour after my interview and the answer I got was something like this. You are put into groups with other students. Then they randomly pick which group gets first choice for a given rotation. The way the person giving me the tour explained it though is they make it fair by not allowing one group to have top choice on every rotation. She said you usually end up with one where you have first pick then a few in the middle and then one where you are last to pick.

That is correct, they are broken down into groups, and as you stated you will get the first pick for one, and maybe the last pick for another. But as an incentive, there are off-sites, outside of the city that not many people want to go, and if you choose that as your site, you are almost guaranteed that site, plus they allow you to have first pick of another site as well, so if you don't mind being away from the city, you can be guaranteed at least 2 of your first picks. Also, as I stated in a previous post, if you live in a rural area and would like to do a rotation there, but there currently is not one set up, then talk to Dr. Koch (who will play a huge part in your first year curriculum) or Dr. Goliak, and they can help set up a rotation for your local area.

Thanks, that has been very helpful. When do we go for orientation? I did receive my official acceptance letter in the mail as well as my student UIN id, but nothing was mention about the date for orientation. The mail did say I will be receiving more information in regards to it. Just wanted some heads up.Thanks.

I have a 4.00 GPA in Biochemistry and a M.S. in Chemistry and shadowing experience. Took the Jan 2011 PCAT and got a 93 composite.

I got put in the holding pattern :(

I am confident it's because your interview skills need work. Great academics like yours put you in a really odd position b/c you'll have a greater tendency to be stereotyped if your interview isn't good. ("oh this candidate is socially awkward and only buries their nose in a book. no chance in hell they can interact w/ patients.")

Are you referring to holding pattern before or after interview? I am in holding pattern too..but your GPA is much better than mine..though I have a similar PCAT score(92 composite)

I guess being out of state gives me a huge disadvantage..thats why they hesitate to offer me an interview..

I wonder whether they will still offer any more interview invites..since they interview people through march

I'm referring to the fact that it's before interview. And my interview skills I believe are quite good as well, but I haven't the chance to do so.

Yeah I'm out of state as well

Yeah I'm out of state as well

If that's the case, it might be your personal statement or LOR. Are you sure your referrals wrote great LORs? If it's your PS, feel free to PM it to me, and I can critique. I'm OOS as well and my stats are way worse than yours.

Yeah, I know for a fact that I had all good LOR's. All people that I know and trust very well. The personal statement was very truthful and I believe I have a compelling reason to pursue pharmacy. Regardless, even if they didn't like my personal statement, there's nothing I can do about it now, since there's no way I'm going to wait a year to go to school.

Dr. T tells me that it's possible that they filled their OOS spots. They only received our January PCAT scores last week I believe?

I have interviews as a transfer at STLCOP, at Regis and MCPHS-Worcester campus.

I prefer they let me know whether I make or do not make the interview cut instead of placing in the holding pattern and hoping there is a chance to get the interview..

It's pretty late in the game since UIC is doing rolling admission..I am loosing all my hope...

Who is Dr. T? Are you referring to the associate dean? Should I email him about the possibility of getting an interview as an out of staters?
