The first and most important thing that you need to do is take the MCAT and kill it. Then apply to SMP programs (go through the threads on this forum, especially the pinned SMP review thread and it will give you an idea where you should apply) for fall 2015 -- applications will open soon, and the earlier you apply, the better. Also make sure you have your LORs ready to go (ask the writers to tailor it to med school so you can use it next year when you apply to AMCAS). And this year while you're applying, start shadowing, volunteering, and/or working in healthcare (scribe, EMT, etc). Another option: you could just take the MCAT, do well in it, skip the SMP, and apply straight to DO.
