Interviewed 3/18 and was told I would most likely be in the March adcom meeting.

Still decision pending.......

I interviewed end of Feb... mine is still decision pending too 🙄

I interviewed 1/30/08 and got in about 4-5 weeks later. I withdrew today. Best of luck everyone!!!!!!!!! :luck::luck::luck:

any one with a status change yet? it seems that last round the status change occurred around this time....

Nope, nothing yet on my end either. I guess we'll just have to continually refresh the status page for a few more hours..haha

It seems from going through the UIC posts from this year and last year that status page changes have been quite variable. The longest it appears to have taken between the adcom meeting and someone getting a status page is 6 days and the shortest being 1 day.

Good luck everyone!

it looks like the status changed at 12:48pm Central for the last batch of applicants...:luck:

Really? I don't have any sort of status change on mine.....very worried! Can someone confirm updated status? thx

wait.... is the committee meeting today? what is the significance of today? lol

wait.... is the committee meeting today? what is the significance of today? lol

I think the committee met last Thurs for the applicants who interviewed from late Feb to mid March. But there's been a fluctuation in how many days it takes for our online status to change from 'decision pending' to something else. I am under the impression that unless the status changes to something like 'a final decision has been made on your application, etc etc', then the remaining options are not good. When did you interview? What does your online status show?

I meant the last batch of applicants who were reviewed at the February ad com meeting, not those of you waiting for a status change today. I don't think anyone who was decided upon in the committee meeting last Thursday has posted a status change on SDN yet. Sorry for the scare 😳

anyone brave enough to call up the admissions office? especially since the website goes down at 5pm for maintenance....

haha... no worries!

my status still says decision pending!

Does anyone know how to get the 2008 Peoria campus match list? I can't find it on their website.

Congrats for those of you who were accepted!!! :clap::bow::banana:

I a wondering when the interview season finishes this year.
I've been complete since september '07 but my file is still "under consideration." At this point can I consider that as a reject or is thare still a chance for an interview?

Same here. Maybe they are taking longer to enter into the system because its a bigger pool of decisions this time around (ie. an extra week of applicants or maybe they will also make decisions/enter it into the system for everyone that has yet to interview).

Current Status: Decision Pending

:scared:

Inzi, are you an Inzamam-ul-Haq fan? you have to be with a name like that, it's almost unheard of otherwise.

hahaha, yes I am 🙂. Hes probably my favourite player of all time! You follow cricket?

I have played cricket at a fairly high level in Pakistan, and still continue to do so in a midwest league. And yes, Inzi is my favorite player as well. It was sad to see that he underachieved throughout until last five years. Though still one of the best batsmen of his era, he could have definitely stood out as the very best if he did justice to his talent. Lazy Inzi as they say....

Wow, nobody has a status change? Does this mean we are all waitlisted?!

highly unlikely that there was a status change and no one who visits/posts on SDN received it

No status change!!! The wait continues... so exhausted....

Yup I'm still "Decision Pending" as well. The way it looks, they haven't made any updates yet.. but I don't think there have been any changes for anyone though so far.

This is crazy!! I'm generally away from the internet most of the time (on a mission trip).. so I have to rely on my phone for the next week to check my e-mail. I'm assuming that UIC will send out the traditional "No decision has been made but your application is still under consideration" e-mail if they pass us over during this round. I keep getting excited that I'm not getting that e-mail, and then tonight I find that no one, including myself, have status changes!

Good luck all! :luck:

I just called admissions and spoke to someone regarding the delayed status change message. He said to expect a status change in the next week or two. There are a limited number of places left in the class and the committee is having trouble narrowing down its choices this time. Hang in there everyone 🙂 :luck:

Thanks appleplshr! I've been compulsively checking the site since last Friday!

So I got my financial aid package from UIC the other day. Since I'm an OOS, the cost of attendance for UIC is around 75k. Looking at this chart, it looks like the entire cost of attendance for all four years will be around $340,000. I expected them to give me some sort of help with this astronomical cost. But it looks like they're just expecting me to cover it all through loans:

$8,500 Subsidized Stafford (6.8%)
$31,500 Unsubsidized Stafford (6.8%)
$35,000 GradPLUS Loans (7.9%)

Are they kidding me? I did some quick math through this site and if I end up with $340,000 at the END of my 4 years of medical school (which I clearly won't since the Unsubsidized Stafford and GradPLUS loans accrue interest immediately, and there is no way I can start paying off those loans to any effect during residency), and if I use a 7.5% interest rate (a figure somewhere in between the 6.8% Stafford and 7.9% GradPLUS), and I take 30 years to pay off my loans, this is what I get:

[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] Loan Balance: .[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $340,000.00.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]
Adjusted Loan Balance:
.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $340,000.00.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]

.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $50.00
.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]Monthly Loan Payment:.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $2,377.33.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]

.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $855,837.90
.[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]Total Interest Paid: .[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA] $515,837.90 .

[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]Note: The monthly loan payment was calculated at 359 payments of $2,377.33 plus a final payment of $2,376.43..

[FONT=ARIAL, HELVETICA]It is estimated that you will need an annual salary of at least $285,279.60 to be able to afford to repay this loan. This estimate assumes that 10% of your gross monthly income will be devoted to repaying your student loans. If you use 15% of your gross monthly income to repay the loan, you will need an annual salary of only $190,186.40, but you may experience some financial difficulty..

Yes, read that again: the cumulative payments will be at least $855k (without even factoring in interest that accumulates during medical school and residency). The total cost of my medical education will be ONE MILLION DOLLARS. Is it just me, or does it seem like UIC's Financial Aid package for OOS'ers is a big F-U?

ouch!
those are some rough numbers... do you have any other options?

Yeah, go elsewhere. I will call the Financial Aid office tomorrow to see if they can do anything about it. Else, I must withdraw.

well, at least you are lucky enough to have a back-up school 👍

please let us know what Fin-aid tells you tomorrow.

Wow. I have an interview at UIC scheduled next week on 4/11, and I have no acceptance yet (w/ a few waitlists).
This just makes me sad........ 🙁🙁🙁🙁

I just called admissions and spoke to someone regarding the delayed status change message. He said to expect a status change in the next week or two. There are a limited number of places left in the class and the committee is having trouble narrowing down its choices this time.

God, that's bleak, eh? I mean, I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I was sorta excited about the whole "UIC accepts 70% of their interviewees".. the way that makes it sound, they're only gonna be giving out a few acceptances for the entire month's interviews.

Wow - this makes me nervous as I really really want to go to UIC (and I currently have ZERO acceptances)! I think the problem is that at this point in the application cycle not as many people have withdrawn their acceptances as the adcom thought, so they are nervous to give out too many acceptances. They have had problems with overfilling their class in the past.

Therefore, to all of you holding acceptances to UIC that are highly considering going somewhere else: Help a fellow pre-med SNDer out! Please withdraw your acceptance if you know you are not going to enroll. The more people who withdraw before the adcom meets again sometime in April, the more likely they are to accept more people from the late Feb/March/April interviews.

Congrats to all UIC'ers who have acceptances and good luck to everyone like me who is nervously awaiting to hear back from this school :luck::luck:

I called the Office of Financial Aid, and they said that any grants or scholarships are granted through the Admissions Office. So I called Admissions, and they told me that I should call on Thursday and ask to speak to a counselor, who would discuss it with me.

So if you are an OOS, I would recommend you call (as I will) on Thursday and ask to speak to a counselor about the financial aid options. The number for the office is: (312) 996-5636. :luck:

thanks! i am an OOS still waiting for a seat. I will do as you advised as soon as I get an acceptance. In the meanwhile, please keep us post it about OOS tuition.

Thanks renovatio, that was really helpful. I will call on thurs and let you know what they say!

nope, still 'decision pending'. perhaps they will meet again today? here's to hoping that's true!!

i called for an update today... and they told me the same thing they said last week: "No decision has been reached on the march interview batch, we should have a decision by the end of next week."

So i am assuming the adcom did not meet today.

I'm OOS too and I called the admissions office today also and spoke with a counselor. As i expected, they gave me no information about financial aid options concerning grants/scholarships except that there is a committee that awards a small amount of scholarships that meets periodically. She said that students can NOT apply for these opportunities but are awarded based on committee assessments on student merit. What should we do for those of us who have to shell out $75K a year in loans?

Hey everyone, way to hang in there on the UIC March decisions...🙂

I was reading through the posts above and just wanted to add that i called admissions today too, and the person I spoke to said final decisions had just been made on the March applicants (last batch).

She said the decisions have not yet been added to the system (she wouldn't say when this would happen) but that we should have letters by the end of next week. I'm thinking letters by the end of next week means the on-line status change will occur sooner rather than later, but i don't want to raise hopes 🙂

I called the office about financial aid options for OOS students and they just told me to make an appointment with a financial aid counselor, so I will let you know what she says when I have that on Monday. Good luck to those who are waiting for decisions!

status change! hope it means what it has in the past! good luck everybody!
