Although the website designates secondary submitted, it also specifies/alludes that it will be updated at one point to "secondary complete".
Awesome! It looks someone IS reading the primary.
for those who've submitted, when they ask for the names of your LOR writers, are you including a description/title like "instructor of ___" or something like that? or just listing names?
I plan to submit some additional info - mainly just what I'll be doing during this next year (2008-2009), since I just graduated in May and won't be in school. I'm providing all the med schools I'm applying to with this information in some form or another.
My status is secondary received... does this mean that they also have my LORs (IE it's complete?)
Also, it says that if we've sent the letters already we have to re-send them. What if my school just put them up on VirtualEvals? Do I have to re-send it through that or will they be able to access them even though they were uploaded a couple of weeks ago?
Hey! Couple of questions:
Also, it says that if we've sent the letters already we have to re-send them. What if my school just put them up on VirtualEvals? Do I have to re-send it through that or will they be able to access them even though they were uploaded a couple of weeks ago?
Thanks!
I believe the way it works is that once your school uploads your letters to VE, they contact the schools of interest and state that your letters are available for review. Beyond that, I think the schools are then able to access the letters on their own accord (ie- if they request a secondary, and you state you sent your letters available on VE).
But if someone wants to call and confirm this notion, please do.
I used virtual evals last year, but UCSF wasn't accepting them then. So I had my health professions office mail copies of my LORs directly too them. I'm not sure if they changed policies or not, but I remember UCLA and UCSF did not use VE.
disorder, I'm not sure if you're "complete" or just "secondary received by UCSF." Please edit this so it's correct 🙂
Well, according to the very nice UCSF lady, for committee letters, we just have to enter the committee it's coming from- not the individual authors.
As for re-sending letters, if they're on VirtualEvals, we don't have to do that either.
Seriously- easiest. Secondary. Ever.
thought i'd ask before i call or email...(in a few hours when the office is open)
does anyone know if by "General Biology, one year with laboratory, including the study of vertebrate zoology" it means that you had to have a separate class in vertebrate zo?
i have one year of general bio but no specific zoology class.
i emailed them and they replied that i just needed a year of general biology. but, if you have any doubt, you may want to email them your classes to make sure. they got back to me within one dayyeah does anyone know?

jojo, i had the same exact dilemma, but in the end i just sent 5 b/c of the line ".We prefer that you not exceed five letters." .it's up to interpretation what that word 'prefer' mean if it will be bad, or it's not a big deal, but i just sent 5 in the end, very hard decision to choose who to take off

Haha, I got that second notification, too... also hoping it meant something. 😉
It is a glitch. They already requested a secondary from me and I jsut got that email (my status still has my secondary submitted).
On a side note, is anyone complete at UCSF? It says to wait 8 weeks before bugging them, but they got my secondary on 7/23 and I am still not complete....
dude, its been 5 days......
LoRs were submitted on 7/18 tho. Idk its rly ******ed on how long it takes ppl to match LoRs to your app.
