So basically, if your name is say one spot below the cut-off for the school during the match, and you ranked that school higher than the one you matched, then you would receive an offer, right?

And you don't need to do anything at all to have this chance, and in any case the chance is slim to none.

I don't want to harass the adcoms at the school I failed to match to, I'm sure they get plenty of angry letters, but I do want to make sure that I don't have to take any action in order to be given this tiny chance of getting a spot after all.

I will be out of the country so I can't make it. But there is a pretty good chance I will see you there next year. We should start posting on our class thread in the Allo section, that thing is dead...😴
 
A&M Waitlist.

Excited....but now confused as to what to do and when to start looking at houses and jobs for the fiance.

got the A&M waitlist email also... I'm so torn though... But I do appreciate them letting us know this early. I love tech and i'm excited about all the cool SDN-ers who are going to be going there too, but the location of A&M is so much more family/relationship friendly for me. 🙁
 
I found out this morning by e-mail about being placed on the A&M alternate list... anyone in the same boat--waitlist-wise??? No acceptances--just more waiting & hoping... :xf:
 
UTMB will be mailing waitlist letters next week. UTH said that their waitlist is unranked but when a spot opens up, they refer to the match rankings of all candidates who interviewed when making the decision of who to select.

So, they can see our match rank after all, once the match is done? That's a little embarrassing for those who ranked some higher and then matched lower 😳

Also like I said before, it would eliminate the need for intent since the school already knows you put them #1...

Me too! I do plan to accept my place on the alternate list and hope for the best.

ouch... so... they interview about 700 ppl... so... 500 are waitlisted?? haha. i won't hold my breath! 🙁
 
I didn't get one. So for those of you who got one, maybe you are within a certain number of places of the top of the list.

The one's who were accepted pre-match but declined the offer aren't on the wait list.

Also, people who matched higher, or never got a pre-match but got a pre-match at a higher choice school (with me being in the second category) wouldn't be on the list either.
 
Didn't someone say that Filo told someone their rank on the waitlist last year?
 
Got the waitlist email from A&M as well. 😎

From what I understand, it's everyone that has interviewed but not been accepted and has not withdrawn their application from consideration. Last year I know they told the people that were in the top 10 percent of the list only when they called and asked. So from what I've heard, yes it is ranked.
 
So there are probably atleast 500 people on the UTH waitlist huh??
 
does anyone know how UTHSCSA does their waitlist? is it ranked, unranked? do they use it heavily, or do they only accept like 2-3 people from the list?
 
I just e-mailed A&M admissions to ask if I could be told my place on the alternate list and the reply that I got said they do not give out information concerning their alternate list. 🙁

Was considering asking, but I 'spose not. But if Filo really does provide such information, I'm awfully curious to see if there's any way I could get that.

Wish I knew anything, even a damn thing, about their waitlist movement other than that it tends to not move a whole lot. Would help to plan things out in the near future.

Yeah, they should really just let people know where they stand privately through e-mail. Exi, being the beginning of February, are you contemplating maybe taking an April MCAT to reapply May 1st?
 
this is my first time to go to this thread so this might have been announced, when does baylor announce its final roster?

Sometime in March will be the first time they fill their class; from then on, there will still be some waitlist movement into as late as June.

That's the first time I've ever e-mailed them with a question, so I doubt they would consider it "bugging them".
 
waitlists must definately be based on match preferences...

i interviewed at houston, but didnt' get a prematch...

I DID NOT recieve the email about waitlists, but i had them ranked below my top choice which i did match to.


(Maybe this was an obvious conclusion... but, some of the previous posts seem contradictory and everyone seems confused. 🙂 )

There's a UTH email about waitlists??

I got the A&M waitlist one, I don't think I'm gonna fill out the thing. I think the only school I'm still interested in getting off the waitlist for is UTHSCSA.

They are definitely not filled yet. They said repeatedly in the interviews that the majority of acceptances (enough to fill the class) would go out in March. Everyone else at that point (again, in March-April, not yet) would be put on the waitlist.

I haven't gotten a UTH email either, and they were ranked higher on my match list than where I got in. I think so far A&M is the only one to send out a waitlist email. I'm just considering myself WL'd since it seems like everyone who didn't get in via the match got on the WL in years past.

I called them today. They notify people on the list mid-February. If you're not notified, consider yourself rejected.

Once you're on the list, spots will open up around early April; the woman I talked to said about 10-15 people normally get placed.
 
Any OOS people that may be wondering about the A&M waitlist, I just recieved an email response from the admissions office and the OOS waitlist has not been finished yet but it will be by the end of the week hopefully. Just thought I would put that out there to ease some worries.
 
When I get an email about an acceptance, the school told me that "if I plan to accept this offer please notify _____". I'm just accepting the offer, right, which is what I need to do to hold a spot?

I just want to make sure I'm not completely obligating myself to attend, because I'm still not sure yet--the jury is out on a few other schools of interest.

they will also mail you some paperwork that you'll need to return.

thank you for the info! but now i have to wait another 2 weeks to see if i might even have a chance to get a chance to get considered to get in :scared:

Really? It seemed like they were accepting a handful of people like every week.. how many spots do you reckon they have given out by now?

It's tough to say. Even if they were accepting a handful each week (5-8 each week or so), and ignoring a 4 week period where it seems like they made no decisions around Christmas, there were then only 2 weeks in October, 7 in Nov-December, and then maybe 4 more this semester, so a rough guess might be that anywhere from 70-90 students might have been accepted by now. Of course, not all of those people are going to hold those spots until the very end. Also, that's obviously really just a rough estimate!

I was hoping for an in through the UTHSCSA list too 🙁 ...

So I was wondering, would it do me any good to go meet with the associate dean? My situation is a little different, I don't know if it would impact their decision:

My bf of 5 and 1/2 years got in at UTHSCSA but I got into A&M...while I am overjoyed at the chance to be a doc, needless to say I would love to go to med school & possibly get married soonish... does anyone think it would help if we talked to the school? should I meet with them before the waitlist goes out or after? Thanks
 
Well UTSW just sent an email about the waitlist (how did I live without Gmail Notifier before??)

This is the worst part

"What is your place on the list? UT Southwestern does not rank the alternate list and will resume 'rolling' admissions as places in the class become available."

I thought they actually told you where you were.......guess those of us waiting for UTSW will be in the same murky waters as the rest of the Texas waitlists 🙁

Also they said no LOIs anymore, so that idea is scrapped. Or maybe they're not being entirely truthful, old waitlist threads were very shady about that....
 
Just got an e-mail from SW saying I'm on the alternate list.

Points
1. All interviewees (i.e. that didn't prematch higher, etc) are on the list.
2. July 15 is the last date they can offer admission to a student who has already been accepted by another school
3. Letters of Intent are useless
4. Other updates are useless - "There is nothing more you can do to alter, supplement, or improve your application."
5. 7 people matched this year
6. Earliest date with more possible information about waitlist: late Feb
 
Anyone call or know about UT Houston's waitlist?
 
I wonder if I should keep my Facebook med school-proof still even being on a waitlist...hahah.....
