I had a question considering residency. Right now I live in arkansas and we have NO dental schools in this state. My parents are considering to move down to texas due to their job issues. I will be a junior this fall so if we did move to texas, I would be a texas resident by the time I graduate college. Would i have a better chance getting to dental school in arkansas resident or texas resident? thanks

since you're an AR resident you have a pretty good chance of getting into UT-Memphis. We save 18 spots for AR residents and give you instate tuition or pretty close.

But then again if you're a texas resident you can be instate at TX schools.

I also know that Baylor and I believe that UMKC also reserve spots for Arkansas residents.

I know that states that border arkansas reserve a few spots for arkansas residents. My question is.. would i have a better chance of acceptance into a dental school living in texas than arkansas?

I assume you are only interested in your chances of getting into a Texas dental school. Your best estimate would be found by comparing the GPA/DAT stats of Ark residents vs Texas residents who apply to and who matriculate into the Texas dental schools. Those stats would be hard to come by. ADEA has data (a few years old) which shows state origin numbers of applicants and matriculants in all USA dental schools during that particular year. That may give you some clue but would not be as good has having the GPA/DAT stats.

If you're interested in getting into TX schools, being a TX resident would make it easier.

Being an AR resident would make it easier to get into TN than being a TX resident.

I am not interested in getting into only* texas dental schools but ANY dental schools. I am talking about getting into any dental schools in general. My chances in living as a arkansas resident or as a texas resident.

To be more specific... if i was a arkansas resident, i know that memphis, LSU, OK, and other bordering states allows a certain number of seats for arkansas residents. I'm just trying to see if i have a better chance getting into *a* dental school living in arkansas or texas
