I want to start a discussion about which is the best Private Student Loan for a International Dentist? I assume that most of the Private Loans require a US cosigner with good credit history. It would be useful to all if we have a comparative chart of loans from all the different lenders in one place and highlight the best one for use/future use !!!

As far as I know the following are some of the big Private lenders..

1) Sally Mae
2) Access Group
3) Citi Bank
4) MEFA
5) Think Financial
I will highly appreciate answers from experts or prospective borrowers in this forum.

Best,

I think this is a very good thread and will help us all a lot... right now i dont knpw much on this...sorry....but will definately like to get back on it...
good luck

This is hot post by OP considering the fact that the time has come to think about it now.....I think a person with H1B can also be the sponsor if he has a good credit history.

so many views and just 2 replies?!! no one interested in loans?!! only in interviews and admissions......well we'll need it someday...

if you want to borrow a loan without cosigner and you are not a citizen or GC holder, access seems the only way to go. anybody any thoughts?

hello
i am new to this thread.i am also interested in finding out bout th eloans for foreign trained dentist.i am from inida.could u please share with me any information thatu have manged to find.also any info bout access loans?

This is a very good thread , will help many of us. I have a question . I am on h4. Can my husband get a loan /can be a sponsor on h1?

Thank you for this information. I also would highly recommend the following company for student loan. http://www.thinkfinancial.com Very nice people and very easy to apply. Hope this helps others.

I found that one can get Comprehensive Access Loan from Access group even if you dont have a green card cosigner. You also need not have a credit history. However, your husband or wife should have atleast 3 years or more of credit history. In such case your husband/wife would be a consigner for any amount for USA education. While Sponsored Access loan says it needs US citz/nationals or eligible noncitizens in practice they do consider any person in US with 3 or more years of credit history equal to there requirements. Just apply for the loan and see if you can qualify too. This will be helpful for a lot of International New Dental School students who came to US after marriage.

Wish you all goodluck!!!

What about loans for GC holders? I need to take part a federal loan + private loan to cover just tuition. can someone give me a light?
The cheapest private loans I found ask for 7.5% but I have not applied yet, so I do not know if it is true.

has anybody got any idea bout the key bank...?
what exactly is a subsidized and unsubsidized loan?

Does the primary beneficiary needs to have SSN in order to get the loan?

I'm on H4 visa and does not have SSN.

Any suggestions?

I dont think H1 can sponsor your loan as far as I know

My husband called and confirmed that a person with H1 visa can sponsor the loan with the Access Group but the interest is much higher than the normal student loan.

Comprehensive access loan can be taken by a person on H1 with a credit history.
