It's november and I am waiting for verification. I have most of my letters sent in, but honestly are there even any spots left? I read the accepted threads and it feels like so many people have already got in, and there are so many that are already complete and interviewing. 🙁

I can almost guarantee that there are apots left. I guess as time goes on schools become a little more selective, but the chance to get in still exists. I was uber-early and still have not gotten an acceptance and there are people who applied much later who did. I am just waiting for my post acceptance nirvana. I had two interviews in the past 30 days or so and both schools were great 🙂love😀COM and KCOM😍).

:luck:Good Luck:luck: and I hope you get many opportunities in the coming weeks.:meanie:

All I have to say is, there better be!!

After December 14, there should be more!

This is very true. If I were to guess just based on the people with multiple acceptances I would say hundreds will open up. All of the early acceptances would have made their choices and paid deposits, while declining other offers.

Dec. 14th is when first deposits are due, so everyone will multiple acceptances will have to make up their mind by then.

Ah ha! Thanks 😀

Yes, lots of them. The schools use a rolling admissions process because they know that good people often don't apply till later on in the cycle for one reason or another. They usually save spots for good candidates because they don't want to miss out on some really good late candidates because they filled their slots with mediocre ones.

All schools also give out more acceptances than available slots, knowing that a bunch of people will go elsewhere. They use a formula and try to get as close to their perfect number as possible, then fill in with previous candidates. Hence, the waitlist. People on the waitlist are acceptable people that they are willing to take if they can't find anyone better in the meantime.

The interview season is only about half over right now. You have plenty of time.

Hmm. Crazy question. Say a school that wants 150 students sends out 250 acceptances and 180 turn around and say, hellz yeah, I'm in!! Does that class have 180 students, or how would that work? Would they take the first 150 to respond, and tell the other 30 they are on the waitlist now because they took too long?

Its rolling admissions. They don't send out 250 at one time. If a school fills its class early, and everyone sends in their deposit, they will probably just close up shop early. I don't think a school will ever have more offers out than they have slots at any given time.

I've read about similar scenarios elsewhere on SDN. Supposedly they will offer incentives (financial, I guess) to individuals willing to defer for a year. Kinda like an overbooked flight.

Here's a nice story of positivity for you... Last year I was not complete with AACOMAS until the end of November or beginning of December due to some complications with a foreign transcript. I only applied to a few schools, but received secondaries within a couple of weeks and had my first interview at NYCOM in January, a week later I was accepted. I was truly holding out for UNECOM however and was offered a interview for March (Secondary was not complete with LOR's until february I believe). A few weeks later I was put on the ASA list and will be joining the class of 2012.

Plus, there are loads of stories of people being complete late and getting into his/her first choice (albeit rare, none the less it has happened!!) so chin up, stay positive. "If you want something enough the world conspires to make it happen." (if you haven't read The Alchemist, give it a try it may at least take your mind off things a little)

Considering most schools interview through May and June there's 7 more months of interviews and only 2 months of interviews done.....do the math.

I applied on Christmas of last year. I was accepted. Do it. It's not that expensive considering you can "save" a year of your life.

I won't be the last to tell you this but if you keep on reading the acceptance thread you might become a little neurotic. There are plenty of seats still available. Many of the students that have posted on the acceptance thread are sitting on multiple acceptances. Just make sure you keep on aacomas, they are busy but make sure they are getting your stuff sent out asap. Also, don't be afraid of bugging the admissions department. But most of all don't worry just yet. The time to worry is about March. If you haven't heard a peep by March you can worry. Keep your heads up and don't forget to smile.

technically most schools are done late march/early april....but seriously you guys, dont freak out. Most schools have their bulk of interviews between November and February, because I mean after all, they understand we're students and therefore procrastinators. Just make sure you so everything as quickly as possible for you. It'd be unfair to expect the schools to respond as quickly as possible if you yourself sent in your application in November. Just stay positive and busy 🙂 :luck: Good luck!!

Last year I was not complete till February. I interviewed at Touro-NY in late April because the March date they gave me didnt work for my schedule, and I was accepted not even a week later. It happens!

I would say you need to worry if, like me, you wait till February. Some schools I interviewed with told us straight out that their class was full, most by Jan-Feb, and we were essentially interviewing for the wait list. Touro had 15 spots left when I interviewed.

It will make you sick with worrying, so just apply NOW. If you do, you should be fine.

The nov-feb range is a good indicator from early/late. Pre nov interviews are a good sign. Nov to feb is where they do the most interviews, so changes are still good. Spring interviews are basically a crap shoot and really depend on how competative the school is.

Dont get down on yourself, I was not complete until early Nov last year, got my first interview in mid Feb and was accepted in March. As were 2 more people from my interview group. So do not dispair, just be ready for your interviews, and blow away the interviewers and don't leave them with any doubt about your being their best choice of that day's interviewees. Good Luck All!!!

What is this ASA list I keep hearing about? 😕

I believe OU-COM did this last year.

So, the ASA list is deferring attendance because too many students were accepted? Wow, I wonder what I'd do for a whole year...
That could be pretty awesome
