PPL with 3.2 GPA !!
Started by supraman
I've got 4 with a 3.01.
Don't lose hope. I have a 3.2 BCP and a 21/20 (TS/AA) DAT score. I currently have 10 interviews. 🙂
I have received only one interview from LLU, and have applied to 17 schools. I've received about five rejections UKentucky, ULouisville, Midwestern, UIndiana, ASDOH. My stats aren't terrific either:
3.2 GPA/3.0 science. 18 AA/18 TS/25 PAT
Crossing my fingers!

I have had 5 interviews (Minnesota, Midwestern, VCU, Temple, and Indiana) rejections from 2 (ASDOH and Penn).
(3.225 and 19 TS/21 PAT/20 AA)

I received only 1 interview so far - columbia - although I applied to ~10 schools... so strange..

i'm not applying until next cycle, but my gpa will probably be no higher than a 3.1 so....

3.2 21/21/24 LLU, ASDOH
I have a 3.05 science gpa (I suck at Math, a lot of C's and C+'s) 3.74 non-science and a cumulative of 3.27. I retook my Dats on August 28th and got 20TS/ 19AA/ and 19PA. My application reached schools prior to my DAT scores by about a week, so not to bad i guess. I have not gotten any interviews yet but thankfully only two rejections out of about 20 schools. I have about a thousand hours of volunteering and shadowing both in private and community clinics. I have been working at least 40 hours a week as a dental assistant in Harlem for about 6 months now. I planned MY OWN mission trip to Vietnam in which my friends and I brought clothes and dental supplies to villagers and orphans. I was part of my university's dental club and was a Resident Adviser in which I planned numerous social, educational, and service oriented activities. This is also my 3rd time applying. I also completely revamped my personal statement. I haven't stopped praying or given up hope, it is just hard at times. If anyone could let me know what is wrong with me I would appreciate it. Thanks 😀

Did you apply to the RIGHT schools? There are schools like LLU and ASDOH who will value your mission trip very highly. Most state schools will sneer at you GPA so hopefully you read-up on the schools before you applied. Also- how's your English?- this keeps applicants out year after year for no other reason.

wow you're dATs are good! Where are you applying??
To answer some of the questions posted:
English is my first language. I do speak some spanish but not quite fluent yet. I also have enough english courses as prereqs if that is what the question was asking. I did apply to ASDOH two times including this time. I applied to about 20 schools such as NYU, ASDOH, Iowa, Creighton, Marquette, Columbia, Colorado, UW, USC, Stony Brook, Buffalo, BU, Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, UPenn, New Jersey, Maryland, UCSF, Minnesota, Nebraska, and UoP. I think that is about all the schools I met the requirements for and thought I could by some miracle get into.

I have a 3.27 overall GPA with a 2.9 Science GPA. THis is my 4th application cycle and I have an 18/20 on the DAT/PAT. However, I'll be finishing a Master's in Public Health in May and there I have a 3.5 in that program. And I've currently had 2 interviews (Univeristy of Louisville and Midwestern University).
Not sure If i have talked to you before but what do you think makes you stand out!?
Supraman -- DAT scores for one. When I was applying, I asked what would make someone that didn't have a 3.5 stand out and they said "20 on the AA part of the DAT and a decent PAT score... that can get ADCOMs to take a good long look at an applicant with stats that were more average." Now if your ave fell below a 3.0, I'm not sure.
My personal statement was pretty kickass, IIDSSMS. I also wrote a 3.5 page autobiography for my undergrad pre-health committee, which they forwarded to all the schools I applied to. They loved that. Not sure If i have talked to you before but what do you think makes you stand out!?
Oh yeah, and raw sex appeal. Adcom chicks dig it 👍

hey congrats, people always speak of post grad
how long is post grad exactly??
can't tell if your joking or not but i just meant that I took my bio chem physics post graduate. Took my a little under 2 years to finish. Oh, and thanks! Im excited.

What if you have finished all the requirements before applying, can you still go back to do a post grad ? Were you full time those years? Sorry just confused!
hmm ok well what i mean is that after i graduated college with a computer science degree, i went back to school a few years later (thus the post grad) after deciding to become a dentist. I took my requirements (bio, physics, chem) and then applied after finishing them. Hope that makes sense.
and I was a full time student and working at the time.
Get a masters in something like bio. And yes taking more bio classes that are not requirements would probably look favorable in your resume as long as you do well in them. It seems like people on this site with gpa's that arent so competitive go and pursue a masters to help improve their chances.
Feel free to ask me anything and Ill attempt to help you as best as I can.

I've got 4 with a 3.01.
What were DAT scores and when did you apply?
For those that got in with a ~3.2 BCP and overall GPA, did you guys have to do a post bac to get in? Also, what are your guy's DAT scores. I've known people that gotten accepted, but had a 3.8+ post bac GPA. I'm going to try to get accepted after I graduated without doing a post bac.
