So besides the regular AP courses I took in h.s, i also did college courses at a community college during my senior year (it was a bridge year program).
I wasn't worried about the fact of what grades I got, as long as I passed the class... I was told that only the credit would be transfered to the future college/university I attended, as long as I passed.
However I now realize that I do have to report all the colleges I have attended. I believe they'll obviously take a look at my transcript from hs college credit. I'm currently a student that mostly gets A's/A-s... will those courses affect my GPA?

Also I know that you're supposed to list the honors courses that you have taken while in college.
Will this boost your GPA and be counted as more than a 4.0 you got an A in an honors class?

If you have to report all grades from all the classes you're claiming then it would seem that they would figure into your GPA.

As far as I know, Honors or not, an A is an A for AADSAS.

You can designate a class as honors, but it doesn't get you more points. That beings said, I would like to express my frustration at how I have to take another english class because apparently AP english doesn't count for dental school pre-req. Oh well, easy A.

Really? Is that for all schools? I took AP english and not a single one of my schools said that it wasn't acceptable.

Yeah, I think unfortunately those grades are going to count toward your GPA. I have some friends that had a similar thing happen to them because they were also told that they just needed to pass the class. It sucks, but at least the dental schools will be able to see that once you got to your university that you did very well.

Well, since I took AP then I didn't take freshmen english, so I only took one english class in college and most schools require a year and apparently AP doesn't count. Or maybe it does. Regardless, I'm not taking any chances.

there is a big different between what your university wants and what the dental school wants. i was glad to have known this in high school.

for example, dental schools want to see 1 year of math. that is why i did not take the AP calc test. i could have skipped regular calc to graduate college if i took the AP calc test. however, dental school still wanted to see 1 year of math. therefore i would have had to take multi variable calc and i did not want to do that.

therefore i just ended up taking 1 year of regular calc. it was also an easy A since i already had regular calc in high school. same thing applies to english.

those grades you got in the community college will be calculated into your AADSAS gpa.

those grades wont effect your university gpa but who cares? the dental school wont see your university gpa they will see your AADSAS gpa.

as far as i know AP classes means nothing to dental schools.

my 2 cents, sorry if i sounded harsh........

yeaa tad harsh haha. But thats for the advice tho. Fortunately, the only AP credit i got was counted towards my 2nd major; French. The college work i did in hs was for english (two b+'s) ... and one semester of calculus. i wouldve done better if i had cared a little. ugh.

Sweet, I took a community college course about two years ago and I'm glad that you guys think the AADSAS counts that toward overall GPA. Schweet!
