So a new pocket reference card has been distributed throughout the hospital. It's in the usual format: neatly laminated, business card size, oblong hole punched in one end so it may be worn behind the ID badge and therefore be available for immediate reference in an emergency.

The topic? Boiler maintenance and emission standards. Really.

No ****, I quote:
quick reference card to be carried at all times by all personnel said:
Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Practice: Boiler Operation and maintenance
  • Significant Aspect/Environmental Impact: Air Emissions
  • Objective: Decrease air emissions
  • Target: 9 parts per million
  • Roles/Responsibilities: Maintain Training; Follow SOPs; Recommend Improvements; Identify Changes and Report Problems

Seriously, WTF? A quick reference card, to be worn with our hospital ID badges, concerning boiler emissions? And 9 parts per million of what?

Bonus points for coining a new "EMS" acronym, in a hospital of all places.

Hey boilers aren't just for mechanics to worry about. I know you are practicing medicine and all but are you too busy to go check the boiler over your lunch break. Some people. F'ing priceless. Only in the military.

Would you mind scanning that and sending it to me or posting it here?

Sure ... give me a sec ...

Gotta be worth a star.

I was thinking the poor E2 who got saddled with printing, cutting, laminating, and hole-punching 100s of these ridiculous things deserved at least a NAM ...

I hope you refuse to wear this on you ID badge and throw it away. I know I would. What's going to happen if you don't? Are they going to kick you out? I wish.

Heh, oh no, it's going to get pinned to the wall on my desk to be laughed at on the days when The Man does some other inane thing to get me down. I can't even look at it now without smiling.

You gotta wonder if its a joke or if the commanders really believe that stuff.

i think that there needs to be a little more for a good fitrep bullet. just wait for the mandatory computer/face-to-face training along with the hands-on boiler training. get it done or no "favorable activities" for you.
