Hi all,

My school offers a research class, so you work on an independent research project but then the class is also three credit hour and counts toward my major and thus contribute to my science gpa. Is it a bad idea? Do med schools see it and disregard it as a class contributing to science gpa? I am concerned only because it seems like as long as you finish your research, write your paper, and present it you get an A. I wonder how med schools look at it...

Did you search?

This is common and is accepted by medical schools as legitimate. Take it and run.

Search what? I don't know where to look it up so I posted my question here with the hope of getting a reasonable answer.

Thank you for your response!

I just did a quick search and I came up with this helpful response from Narmerguy.

Definitely take it for credit. Some people even do research all four years of college. It's a significant time commitment like any class and though you're "retaking" it, you're never doing the same research in two semesters since your data is always changing.

I also think they're aware that most research credits are going to be A's so if they feel so inclined they can simply look at your other science classes to see if you're still doing well in them.

Thank you, I truly thank both of you.
It's a really helpful response
I am gonna take this class 🙂

No problem! This thread actually helped me answer a question I had too, just hadn't bothered to try to find an answer for yet.

oh and now I know what Namerguy was talking about when he said "Did you search?"
Sorry for bringing an old topic again. I am new here so still tryna figure out things.
But I see there is a search box and I can look up all the pertinent concerns. Now I know!
Thanks!

I must admit that was a first. I hope users embrace searching as you often can get a better answer before even asking, plus it's considerate as a lot of these questions have been asked (and answered) dozens of times already.

 When I realized that the answer I found was from you, I had to quote it 😀
