Which private rotating internships are considered the most competitive for residencies? I know the academic programs are highly regarded in general, but want to be in private practice for a year. AMC and Angell are the main ones that I know of as being highly competitive, but wanted other opinions.

Also, how competitive are these programs? Say I completed a ACVIM equine internal medicine residency. How much would this put me a step "above" the other candidates for say a partner practice? How much would this increase my mid-career and starting salary vs. just an equine internship?
