I applied and was verified end of July,
I am currently in a SMP up north, my GPA after the update is 3.01 (cumulative) . 2.85 science - this is with a large upward trend (3.75 GPA after 2 semesters in SMP)

My DAT is 21/21/22 (AA/TS/PAT)

I applied to 14 schooos and have been rejected from 3 but haven't heard from others... do I still have a chance?

Before the update I didn't have any masters grades in.

I've heard that some schools will wait for first semester grades before sending an invite, so hopefully you'll hear back soon. I wouldn't give up just yet, but be prepared for the worst and maybe ask your advisor if there's anything you can improve on. Also depending on the masters program you're in, some schools may completely overlook your undergrad performance if you do well enough. I heard this from a Rutgers admissions committee member, so take it for what it's worth.

Don't think you will be hearing back from schools. Focus on the smp and look to reapply

You'll most likely need to reapply. Two semesters is the bare minimum of what you should have when you apply early. Don't be discouraged though. Keep trying. It took me a few cycles with a 3.9 MS GPA to finally get in.

I was told the complete opposite. Upward trends and a high grad GPA will certainly help, but they will NEVER overlook your Undergrad performance.

I think it depends on the dental school. Some will consider "Forgiving" prior mistakes if there are stats to compensate for it (this isn't opinion, I was told so, too, like socal6). Others (ie: MWU-AZ) will still reject you out-right no matter what if your undergrad performance doesn't match their minimum requirements. UNE, Tufts, Nova, and Maryland were willing to overlook my semi-disastrous to mediocre undergrad performance (I had 2 F's and 2 withdrawals by the end of my sophomore year, but strong upward trend) after I nailed a 3.95 MBS and improved my DAT :soexcited:

When did you update your Masters grades? It maybe your personal statement that might be the culprit. Although your science GPA is low, your overall GPA is acceptable with solid DAT scores. I recommend calling to check if they have received your Masters grades.

I'm very happy for you. Seems like you've had quite the opposite experience from me. Just make sure whoever told you they will overlook or omit a lesser-than-stellar Undergrad performance is someone that is on the admission committee or the Dean because people often mistake the statements that the admission staff saying as representative of what the admissions committee does behind closed doors.

I'm curious, how many credits have you finished in your SMP until now?

keep up the grade. I assume u updated the new GPA recently. I can't speak for other schools but at Nova they won't look at your SMP until after you are 1 year or so into the program. They said because 1 or 2 semesters of SMP not gonna make up for 4 years of low undergrad GPA. 3.75 is good but 4.0 is better . U have to prove to them that u can work hard and handle dental school 's curriculum, so try to get that 4.0 next semester. It's a long journey but u can make it. G/L.

My first semester was a 3.4 (8 credits) and my second semester was a 4.0 (14 credits)
