I started this thread for those taking the MCAT on 04/24/09, I searched this site but couldn't find any thread for this test date. I just registered today, and I'm looking forward to 2.5 months of cranium-busting so that I can put this "four-letter-word" behind me once and for all!!!! :diebanana:

So sign up people and lets support, motivate and try to keep each other sane!! Best of luck to everyone testing on this date and any date for that matter!!!!!!!!!!

I also retook the exam this time and found it to be exponentially more difficult than previous exams. I don't think its time to panic yet (which i find is really easy when you have a place like this forum).

Hopefully the test was as difficult for everyone and the curve will accommodate. Here's hoping. 😛

Hey, did anybody know how to solve any of the problems (especially the first question) from the H2 gas passage in the PS section? PM me if anybody has any idea on any one of the problems.

is anyone feeling like their brains have stopped working post-mcat? bc my brain is not working!! I am normally a very disciplined student and I am having a VERY hard time studying for finals!! (luckily I have set myself up so I don't have to get very good grades to keep my A's but it's still annoying!!) I feel like any time i open my books to study i just stare at them...haha...🙁

Sleight.... I'm on the same boat...
I have 2 midterms and a paper that's due next week and I'm just not motivated to study/work on them. haha 😱😀😱

Score predictions anyone, or is it too early? In any case, I'll shoot:
PS >=11
VR >=10
WS>= P
BS >=12
Composite >=33P
I'm expecting mid-30s.
I was initially expecting much higher, but as more time passes I feel less and less confident.

Composite - 33. This is my goal! I'm scoring a little below it on my prac AAMCs though. Hopefully once finals are over, i can raise my prac test score by a few points

True, but weren't there also plenty of ppl who scored on par or even greater than their practice tests?

Same here. I had been scoring on AAMCs and expecting higher than what I think I scored. Worked up to a 37 AAMC but here's how I feel after taking the exam:
PS 12
VR 8-9
BS 13
Composite 33-34
Writing P

Yeah, i was consistently scoring 38s on my aamc practice tests, but i think it would take a small miracle for me to have achieved that on 4/24...

does this mean you didn't take it on 4/24/09? since you said you're hoping to raise your prac test score...or are you still studying and planning on a re-take and thats why you're hoping to raise your prac test score?

Yeah that post confused me too...I wasn't referring to score predictions prior to actually taking the MCAT, I was referring to those who took the 4/24 MCAT to predict the scores they think they got! 🙂

Either way, nice goal (33P), maybe aim a little higher so that when you actually get 33+ you're still on the money!

Are you guys going to narrow down your schools before you get your scores back? I feel like there is such a wide range of scores that I could possibly get so I am going to base a lot of my decisions about where to apply on the score...I don't know how I would narrow down completely at this point...anyone doing that?

I'm in the same boat. I'm gonna work on my application as soon as I'm done with finals, but now I feel like I have to wait to get my MCAT scores back before I can even try narrowing down schools.

yeah i can't do anything really until i get my scores because it makes a HUGE difference. my GPA isn't stellar so depending on the MCAT i could be somewhere good or somewhere not so good lol

wow...i was looking at the forum for the people who took their exam on 4/4/09.... their scores came out.. some people did WAY better on the actual exam when they didn't break 30s on the practice exams and some people, unfortunately vice versa.....

now...I really don't know what I got on my actual MCAT...guess I just have to wait..😕😕😱😱 good luck to all of you guys :luck::xf:

3 weeks...is everyone else done with finals? I feel like all of my other friends are that go to other schools and I still have two weeks!! It helps me stay a little distracted though...

I have one more final tomorrow, and then a project to turn in Friday.

Today I had a HUGE scare! I woke up 😴 30 minutes late for one of my finals and I saw my life flash before my eyes. 😱 If I someone would have finished before I made it to the testing room, I wouldn't have been able to take the test and I would have gotten an F in the class. :scared:

I made it, though.... 😳

wow! close call! i hate that feeling of waking up late! i have a friend who just missed one of his tests bc he over slept...i feel bad for him!

Haha, I think scoring a 2 is about as difficult to achieve as scoring a 15 (assuming the examinee actually tried)!. :laugh: For the record, I think at least two SDNers have actually scored VR 15!!! :idea:

It's funny also because I had a similar dream a while back, it was like yours except I got a VR 6, which is more frightening because it's a more realistic number....:scared:

Oh man the mcat dreams are killing me!! i had a dream that i was taking another mcat and i was just too tired to do it so i just walked out during verbal...that would be awful...

My nightmares primarily is just receiving your THX scores on AAMC. That screen does pop out right in front of you when you log in to get your scores. I wrote my second exam 4/24. My first exam score wasn't great enough and it stung when it shot out from the screen. It really doesn't give you a chance to pray or anything before you get your scores, it's like BOOM! YOU GOT THIS SCORE. LIKE IT OR NOT, this is it.

Hi. I have been lurking on this thread for a while. I felt pretty awful after taking the test. My aamc practice score range was 28-31. I am really feeling a 25, though. But yeah, I had a dream last night that I was doing a retake and the test was a zombie shooting game!...if only. This is what I get for stressing about the MCAT and playing Resident Evil 5, haha.

For those that use the private messaging (PM) function of this forum, have you noticed that your Sent Items folder is empty despite the fact that you have sent several PMs? Is there a way to change this setting?

Before you submit your PM message, scroll down and you'll see an option for saving a copy of your message in the sent items folder. Click this option. Hope this helps! Yes, two weeks left and it's going sloooooowly....

10-11 PS
7 V
10-11 BS

I'm thinking I could've gotten anything from
9-12 PS
6-10 VS
9-13 BS
24-35 Total hahahaha so we'll seeeeee

Has anyone managed to figure out which passage(s) on our test were experimental based on which passage(s) were not common to all of our tests? I assume this is how experimental passages work, but not sure.

Sorry, don't know exactly which passages were not common or whether these passages are necessarily the experimental ones. Please let me know if you find out 🙂. I sure hope the last passage was the experimental since that's the one I got cut off on....

it is supposed to be May 26th 5pm EST but I think sometimes they get released earlier or later than that...basically they want us to sit around and check it every 30 seconds on that day...maybe I will take sedatives so I sleep all day so that by the time I wake up I know they will be online! lol...

I'm not sure if different passages among the 4/24 (or any MCAT) exam reveal the experimental passages.....however, there has been some talk regarding a "Train/Doppler Effect" passage in the PS section and I remember distinctly not having any such thing on my exam. 👍

I think it's very hard to predict one's score on this section (VR) of the exam, especially when compared to the science sections....so I wouldn't get to worried thinking about how you did. 😉

maybe it was a sign that you'll score 12 in all sections...or maybe you were just thinking of the 12 days that are left!
I feel as if my life is on hold until those scores come out....

So when do you guys think scores will come out? the 24th is a sunday, but the 25th is memorial day...so they would come out on tuesday the 26th prob right??? Which totally sucks if they do bc the first time i took the mcat, it was right around labor day, and they released AFTER labor day not before. 🙁
