I'm no one important, but I think that you will really love KCUMB overall based on my personal bias (born in the Midwest) & your own pros/cons list. Especially, because you got in at the KC campus. KCUMB also has a great reputation regionally and is well-connected to the other hospitals & med schools (MD or DO) there. KC is a great smaller city that has a little bit of everything, with a lot of opportunity and lower cost of living.

The main deciding factor I think is if you really want to end up back in CA. Maybe consult match lists at KCUMB to see if that's a possibility, & if not then it might not be a viable option.
