I am wondering if I should continue perusing a career as a medical doctor or if it is time to start considering other options. I am currently attending a community college, taking 18 credits this semester and doing well. I will be transferring to BYU in the fall. Here are a few other details about my situation

Gpa: 3.45 (not including grades from this semester)

ECs:

  • Served a 2 year mission for my church which involved learning a new language, teaching about our church, training younger missionaries, and providing service to people in that area such as teaching English.
  • I’m currently volunteering in the ER at a hospital by my house.
Important details:

  • I do have 6 w’s on my transcripts. 5 came in one semester. That semester I spread myself way to thin and I was dealing with emotional health problems as well as a family emergency. All the classes I dropped I will retake at university.
I’m wanting some advice on what I should do moving forward.
Once you transfer, make sure you access the campus psychological services office and make sure whatever emotional or mental wellness issues are under control so you can excel in your classes. Don't overload your course schedule again. I also have no doubt you will meet the preprofessional/prehealth advising office and take advantage of their insight and offerings.
