I just started my MCAT prep today, and did two verbal passages. It took me 15 min per passage... I feel so bad right now. Are there any tips and tricks to keep in mind while reading and answering questions? thanks.

Verbal has always been my best section and it comes down to realizing that not every line is important, don't care about the details in the passage, they are not necessary you can refer back if you need specifics

You might get 5, 6, 7 straight lines saying basically the same thing, just zoom right past that and continue onwards

an old trick (from someone who is old) read the questions first before reading the passage

I started at 13 minutes as well (a little over a month ago). It will get better. Get used to a strategy and take your time developing and applying it. Eventually the time it takes to do a passage will decrease while your scores improve.
