First off, I know I'm very lucky to have any II at all. That being said I recieved two early II back in August back to back and it's been only radio silence or rejections since then. I applied early and I'm starting to become concerned about this interview season. So far I'm sitting on 2 II, (one done, one yet to complete), and 3 post secondary rejections

I applied to 13 programs. 3.74/513
Anyone else in the same boat where they received early II and then nothing?

Yep, I'm in the same boat lol. I have similar stats as well

You're golden. I'll eat major hat if you don't get an acceptance.
I hope you have many hats because I have a similar situation! 30 secondaries, 3 II within 2 weeks with the latest being 3 weeks ago. Then an R and a hold.

I made an excel sheet on the average days of silence from all my schools.
As of today, the average is at 52.67 days of silence since getting the "Under Review" email from the schools.

Longest silence being 71 days from Wayne State...

Yeah I got two II's the first week of August but haven't gotten anything else apart from 3 rejections. I applied to 24 schools.

Shortest for me was II within 2.5 weeks for an MD program I added in August. Remarkable turnaround. It would've thrown the June submitters of the school specific threads into a tizzy. "Submitted 7/1, looks like they passed me over 🙁"

If you don't get an acceptance my Thanksgiving feast will be composed of various different sizes of pilgrim hats.
I'm thinking sombreros. If I get to cinco de mayo without an A, then I'll ship you a sombrero and my GoPro to capture the moment!

I got 8 IIs really early like end of July-first week of Aug. Silence since.

Most applicants are rejected
Of those who get IIs, 20% get only one.

I do wish SDNers would stop thinking "I sent in my apps...where are all my IIs??!!"

Statistically speaking, I think that you will become a doctor.

I sure hope so. I am very happy with my cycle, merely thought that I would add to OPs example of some early IIs and then silence since

100% apply
A little under 60% get rejected
A little under 20% get a single acceptance
A little over 20% get multiple acceptance.

Overall with US MD and DO, over 60,000 individuals apply for about 28,000 first year seats

Everyone right now needs to assume rejection and continue to enhance their record in preperation for a possible reapplication
Any idea of the breakdown for those interviewed and accepted/rejected? As in, percentage of students who are interviewed to the percentage of students interviewed who end up with an acceptance

At my school:

~5000 apps
500 interviews
350 accepts

The number of people outright rejected is LOW... like maybe 1/40.

You can ballpark figure this out school by school using MSAR. They tell you how many people get IIs. You can estimate that accepts are 2-3x the number of actual seats.

Is this **** for real?

Don't forget, you applied to 6 schools total (with 5 secondaries) and have 2 interviews. The guy you were replying to applied to 25 (not to mention TMDSAS) and has 8. You guys basically have the same application:interview ratio.

That’s not the point. He has 8 interviews.

I did the same! My average right now is 51.2 days from under review to either II, R, Hold or silence as of today. Low of 1 day at UCI and a high of 97 days and counting at Baylor...

Jumping in to hang out and vent. 😛
1 MD, 2 DO II
I would be more than happy at any of these schools but the MD is a state school. 🙂
Due to a science LOR going ghost for two months I wasn't complete until first week of Sep.
I feel fortunate to have 3 IIs...

Agreed 8 II is awesome. Useless for you to come in with the negativity though.

I mean he’s not wrong. When people are sitting on nothing or only one or two (not counting myself here since I only filled out five secondaries), having someone come in and complain about only having 8 IIs is probably pretty demoralizing. With 8 IIs, unless you are a total robot or douche bag, you will be a doctor. So stop complaining and be happy you have that many, since the median is 4 (and the median number of secondaries is 15).

I started with "Agreed 8 II is awesome." On topic, how's the cycle going Mathew9thirtyfive? I haven't been on sdn much so not sure how everyone is doing.

Right, I hadn't interpreted his post as complaining--thought of it as him showing a more extreme version of OP's experience. If he meant it as complaining or anxiety I definitely agree!

Going good for me so far. Got a hard R from UCSD early on but 3/5 of my secondaries concerted to IIs. I actually canceled one of them. Thanks for asking.

How’s it going over there?

FAU, DMU, AZCOM II
Idk if I can afford anymore plane tickets lol I'm sure you will get your top pick.

Nice. Got CMSRU, USUHS, and ETSU here. Canceled etsu. Felt bad about it, but I think an sdner got my slot so that’s good. Got radio silence from fau and Hopkins. Pretty much assuming I just donated my secondary fee to Hopkins but I was hoping for an II from fau. You’ve got a great shot of getting into at least one of those places.

Maybe we will be classmates. FAU is super friendly and the small class sizes are cool.

Same 3 II in late August. Applied to 25, complete mid-July. 3 Rejections, silence from the other 19 schools. Still holding out hope
