In general for 2 lens problems (like microscopes), the image created by the first lens acts as the object for the second lens. Say you have a 2 lens problem where lens 1 is diverging/concave and lens 2 is converging/convex.

Question: since 1st lens is diverging and diverging lenses create virtual images, can the image from lens 1 act as the object for lens 2?

Basically, can virtual images act as objects?
