Okay, this question is me going a little overboard. Just thought I should warn you guys.

When you took these photos for schools, did you wear a suit and tie? Do you think it will make a difference? I know I want to present myself as professional, but does the photo need that professional?

i wore a nice white sweater with a collar shirt underneath. i'm not sure what guys are supposed to wear, though i would think a nice collared shirt would be fine if you didn't want to wear a suit. supposedly they aren't supposed to factor the pictures into the admissions equation, they are just for identification purposes (whatever that means).

Yeah, I do not know why either that a picture is required for identification. Why can't they just use our AADASA number or some thing else like a photo copy of our Drivers lic?

Make sure to put perfume/cologne on......just kidding....

I took mine at home using a digital camera. I put on lots of makeup, adjusted the lighting really well, took pictures with several shirts on to determine what looked the best. I cropped it and made a sheet of 2x2's and took it to CopyMax and had it printed on high quality photo paper. Maybe I was a bit over the top, but I think I made very professional looking photos.

😀

Its probably easier for them to remember a face to a person rather than a number to a person.

Just take a picture. You dont need to be wearing an armani suit. But do be clean shaven, and comb your hair before you take it.

Many schools take those photos and attach them to a large board, and then view that when making decisions on students. Like Bickle said, it's good for them to attach a name with a face. Those faces also trigger feelings they may have had during your interviews, etc.

I wore a suit/tie for mine, but I also took it outside my house with a digital camera and printed it on my inkjet printer.

Does it have to be color / black and white? Does it matter?

I took my picture in a slightly dressier T-shirt (but nothing as nice as you guys) and it was literally 3 or 4 sets of passport pics. I don't think you really need to dress up and have them be fancy schmancy pictures.

But make sure you smile in the pics! And no blue/purple hair-that sort of stuff.

It's really not a big deal...just so they can remember who you are.

Some of you guys went/are going overboard on this picture thing. I just went to the local drug store and got some passport photos tanken. Thats all you need.....

When in doubt, always opt for color.

agree. i did exactly the same thing.
i also wore a shirt and a tie. doesn't hurt to look professional you know?

I didn't put a whole lot of thought into my portrait. I ended up wearing this faded, wrinkled 10-year-old plaid shirt (a hideous rag that I generally reserve for yardwork). I had the pics taken at the grocery store with one of those white backdrops pulled down in front of the food shelves...truly miserable lighting. Overall I look like a guy who's just been busted with a family in his freezer.

But the school still accepted me so it would seem that picture quality doesn't matter. Still, IMO as long as you own a suit you should probably wear it just to be on the safe side.

Go to the following link:

http://film.jcpenneyportraits.com/coupons/index.shtml

If you're like me and not technologically savvy to make your own 2x2 pictures, go to JCPenny's and get some photos taken there. The coupon says $3.99 per portrait sheet, and they can fit 9 3"x2" photos per sheet. The coupon also comes with a free 8x10, but I asked for them to give me another sheet of 9 3"x2" photos instead. I bought a second sheet of 3x2 at $3.99. Add in the $9.99 sitting fee, and I basically paid $18 for 27 wallet pictures. That was a heck of a lot cheaper than getting 27 passport photos at Walgreens or Kinkos. If it is absolutely critical that your photo be 2x2, just chop the excess off the top & bottom and it will work fine.

Make an effort to make it a nice picture. They do look at them when making their decisions (at least for all the ortho interviews I went to, they definitely looked at them), so every impression counts.

Is the picture a head shot or of the whole body? Anyone know?

Hey SloppyJoe,

I think it is your favorite body part. For instance, if you have rocking Abs, you have a 2by2 photo of your mid-section. Or if a girl has a nice booty, you send a picture of that. Don't get pissed. 🙄

It is just a head shot with some of you shoulders. They want to see your face not your fat gut.

i was thinking my nice feet will win the adcoms over... oh well.
