does anyone have any information about two year residency programmes (accelerated programmes). I've heArd anecdotally they are offered to people who have completed previous residencies in certain countries (U.K. Ireland ). Anyone know which programmes offer them,
Thanks

Could you cite your sources for the existence of these programs? It’s not anything I’ve ever heard of. And it’s even more problematic when you consider the fact that a plurality if states require 3 years of PG training in order to get a license.

So in that document it mentions your PD can petition for up to 12 months time cut off your residency training if you've completed 3 years training outside the US. I know of two people who went straight into a PGY2 year of an internal medicine residency having trained in ireland previously. Just wondering how common it is and if only specific programmes. I presume it's very rare if the likes of yourself never heard of it?
Thanks

It’s possible to go straight into fellowship (something like nephrology) after completing residency elsewhere and then doing residency in the US in 2 years. I know of a number of programs where the PD would consider it and these programs are usually IMG heavy.

I have heard of something like this. Heard of someone who matched advanced neurology but didn’t match prelim IM. He was somehow able to get a waiver for his intern year and started directly in his neurology program a year later.

This I've heard of.
