I called the Drexel admission's office today and they told me specifically that SDN user Ames980 would not be receiving a secondary application because she had called them too many times to ask when it was getting sent out.

Emory Essay Prompts (based on the size of the boxes, however, I think they are looking for short answers):

A. If it was not included on your AMCAS application, please list your entire curriculum plan for the 2004-2005 academic year.
B. Briefly describe (in approximately 50 words) what you are doing if you are no longer a fulltime student.
C. Briefly describe (in approximately 100 words) any health-related experience and/or research experience (volunteer or employed). Also, indicate the time and frequency of your involvement. Note: If you have had experience in several health-related areas, list each with a very brief description. Or, you may choose the most meaningful experience and describe it in more detail.
D. Briefly discuss (in approximately 100 words) any special interests attracting you to Emory.

It's those prompts plus the usual LOR, Felony, etc., stuff.

Yay, wends! Congrats on that Emory invitation.

How's it going with Northwestern? Did you get them to push back the LOR deadline? I tried to push back the deadline as well and I haven't got any response from them over a month. I'm probably not going to appy to NW. Good luck with everything.

Dr. Chiquita! hows it going? dont give up on Northwestern! i think everyone's LOR's are auto pushed back to sept 1st, but i still need more time so im gonna call them soon.

yeah i got emory, hehehe, but im taking a break today for the olympics .... 😛

Mmmmmm, Garlic Knots! 😍

Yay! More secondaries: U of Miami, U of Virginia, JHU.
They don't screen, so maybe they'll like the package deal 😉

AMCAS still "active", needs verification 😡

Anyone heard back from MSU. If so, how and what date did you submit AMCAS?

i havent heard from mount sinai. whats up with that? 🙁

see in help, they do not take any cash or check. Only credit cards/ debit
cards.

😕
I submitted my AMCAS early June, and I still haven't received any form of notification/secondary from UC Davis. 😱 (I have heard from all other schools on my list..) If anyone has heard anything from them, please let me know~ Is it a good idea to contact them?

You could contact them. I received the confirmation and secondary in late July. That doesn't mean that Davis is done sending out secondaries, though. I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. Lots of people at SDN are still waiting on Davis.

thanks~ 😳 I will give them a call soon, in case something went wrong w/ my AMCAS. congrats on getting their secondary! i take that your 1st choice is UCLA? 👍

Thanks. 🙂 I would LOVE to go to UCLA. It's a long shot, so I don't want to get my hopes up. Good luck!

I heard from UCSD, telling me that they are "processing". Well, they've been "processing" my primary app since 7/20, and I still haven't been notified as to whether or not I get a secondary. Been over a month. WTF? Anyone else having this problem with UCSD? Should I call them? Email them?

Well, I'm having a similar problem with UCI. Mine was processed since 6/9. So maybe the UC's are just slow.

Maybe that's an indication on the amount of applications UC schools get?

OrnotMajestic said:

To the best of my knowledge (from a UCI adcom person), UC's do a quick look over every app. They then send out secondaries to those they really like (about 20% of apps) and rejection letters to those they don't like (another 20%). The rest (60%) go through a second review which can drag on and on for months and about half of these get secondaries.

Hope it helps.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Code Brown!! That does make sense...so basically, I could be in that "second review" pile...glad to know that they didn't think I sucked completely at first!! 😛

on the apps that they mail or they ask you to print out, are you guys using a typewriter or handprinting on them?

ok i got a question about the duke secondary.

for the recommendations, i'll have one packet with 5 letters and a composite letter. should i checkmark the committee box or whatever they call it for each one, or just for the letter summarizing all the other letters that my advisor will write?

thanks.

check both as composite..

P.S. just make sure you have two letters checked off as being from science faculty or you won't pass the audit..

I think UCSF is sending out another batch of secondaries today. I just got an invite.

So far I have 1 reference (my school does not have a committee) but am having a little more trouble finding more. The professors I have emailed have not emailed me back yet. I would like to send in my secondaries and want to know if they will start looking at me without my letters yet. I know some of them want to know who your referees are but I would have to leave this blank for now and explain. Would this be a problem? Is there anyone that has done this before?

Thanks

i just booked my flight to my interview....it was about a months rent.....i'll be eating KD for awhile...... 🙁 and i had to beg NU for LOR extensions......i have yet to hear back

Ugh, it seems as if i've been waiting forever for UCSF, guess the wait continues.

Is anyone else all of a sudden unable to login to the Stanford 2ndary? I was just about to submit and then it stopped taking my ID and password. When I try to login the page just re-opens and says "Field is required" under the text boxes.

Anyone else having this problem or willing to try to login and let me know if it's their site or something on my end?!?

Thank you!!
😕

yeah UCs are definitely slow compared to other schools. it's only after i'm almost done w/ all other secondaries did i start getting the UCs... and apparently, UCSF and UC Davis don't like me that much. 🙁 *sigh* i've been waiting for them forever...
