I can't log onto the MSSM secondary...it tells me my info is incorrect and to try entering it again. Is it this way for anyone else? My best guess is that they allow access in waves too, but it would be nice to see if other people are in the same boat.

Make sure your email is the exact one that you gave AMCAS?

i got usc and mssm today via email....yea more secondaries, just when i was starting to get bored....havent heard a thing from emory yet tho 😡

hi supadupadoc, those are the essays for MD only (plus some basic bio/class data)

1a. Have you applied to any medical school in the past? Yes or No
1b. Have you applied to the Keck School of Medicine in the past? Yes or No
2. Please briefly explain your interest in the Keck School of Medicine.
3. Briefly describe any unique qualities and abilities you possess which would contribute to: (A) the educational environment and (B) the diversity of the entering class.
4. Please provide a summary of your most relevant and recent leadership experiences.
5. Briefly describe your most relevant extra-curricular activities (volunteer, research, serving disadvantaged or underserved populations, etc?) related to your interest in medicine.
6. Please provide a copy of the personal statement that you submitted on your AMCAS application.

Good luck to all

thanks daffy! actually just got the sec. today

also............... usc sec. is not screened for the person that was asking....

i have a general question. on the secondaries where it requires you to list specific courses you've taken that fulfill a school's reqs, how are you normally listing labs. this is specifically for vanderbilt, and the reason i'm asking is that they want general bio classes to be listed. however, at my university the general bio classes didn't include labs, but the more advanced ones did. i'm thinking about just listing two of the more upper level classes that include labs on my app. do you think that is ok?

Has anyone received Miami's secondary? I didn't see it on the list of schools. If anyone has received it, how is it (easy essay questions, no essay, or lots of essays) cause i was thinking about applying there. I hav already been processed for about a month now, so i was planning on adding 2 other schools, and was thinking of miami if there secondary was easy though.

Received Loyola today.....

AMCAS processed 7/6
3.52 cum, 3.52sci, 30 mcat

I got miami's a couple of weeks ago...they have a bunch of short essays, but they're all suprisingly easy: i.e. what are your hobbies? what do you do for fun? (literally) and a few of the usual questions. Miami does screen though and the cutoff is pretty harsh for out of staters.

i havent received a secondary in a while. this is annoying.

It's a total pain. At least you get your money's worth. Due in 2 weeks...

Just think about the interview invites you already have and that'll ease your annoyance.

Gahhh... I don't want any more secondaries... still have 12 to go 🙁

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I should be more thankful.

Meharry Medical College sent out their secondary yesterday.

Just repeat the course, but put "(lab)" behind the title. That's what I've been doing.

I think a lot of people are. They say that their tech is coming in on Thursday so I'd hold off until then to fill it out.

Any out-of-staters not get this secondary yet? I'm still waiting!

I have not received Univ. of Wisconsin's secondary yet either. Have any out-of-staters received Univ. of Wisconsin's secondary? Does anyone have any information (verified or otherwise) about their screening process? Thank you!

Got a letter yesterday from UNC School of Medicine saying they received AMCAS. I'm not sure the time-frame for sending out secondaries, but they only send them to those they will interview. I actually like that idea. Just wanted to let you know in case anyone was curious.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but I spoke with the admissions office at Northwestern yesterday, and they told me that they are automatically extending everyone's letter of recommendation deadline to September 1. You don't have to e-mail a request for one.

Don't freak out about Wisconsin yet. Even if you get their secondary, you can't click the submit button until September 1st. So really it's not holding you up at all. My app for WI is completely done, but I can't even send it back for another month. Seems a bit pointless...

I finally got University of Minnesota today via email!

Does anybody know for Wash u, when they say that the deadline is 4 weeks from when you received the secondary, did they mean the letters of recommendation too? If it does, I just missed it 😕

For anyone interested in OHSU-

I called, and the first batch of screened secondaries should go out in the coming week. They send you a letter with a pin to access the online version. The first interviews will occur the week of October 18.

🙂

WashU's website says they want the secondary and the certification form within four weeks. I called their admissions office Monday and they said that at this point, so early in the cycle, they weren't even looking at dates. Also, schools know that a lot of us don't have control over LOR timing because we have to wait on premed committees to send out packets. You're fine. 🙂

Did you actually get the secondary, or did you just get a email confirming that they had received your amcas application. I received an email from them this morning, but it only was to confirm that they had received my amcas application.

I got a Minnesota email too! There're beginning to review apps. but not sending secondaries yet.

You're right, obviously I didn't read it very well! Why don't they just send us a secondary 😡 C'mon already! I'm not going to "familarize myself with the application process" unless I am invited to apply...

Whoops...maybe the two week deadline wasn't such a good idea after all....

i don't know, i kinda liked it. it gave me a reason to tell my premed advisor that i needed my stuff sent ASAP, and she said "no problem." my letters will be mailed to all of my AMCAS schools tomorrow! 😱 🙂 👍

Think how I feel...I'm applying early decision to the U of MN and I haven't received my secondary yet either. 😱

anyone heard from UMD? :scared: :scared: :scared:

I haven't received their secondary either (my AMCAS was submitted on 6/25 for UMD). Since they don't screen, I'm assuming that they're just late in getting them out?? I'm anxious to receive this too since MD is my home state (I'm a Cali transplant). 🙂

Northwestern still says awaiting receipt for my LORs, which are due on the 6th. I know they've been sent by my school's service since I got an e-mail confirmation from another school that was in the same batch of mailings. When should I get worried and call since I definitely don't want them to think I missed the deadline?

I had this problem. I sent NW my letters by priority mail last week. Two days after, I sent another school my letters by priority mail, and that school notified me a few days before Northwestern that they received the letters ... but I had been checking the UPS tracking number, and Northwestern signed for the package earlier. I think NW is just a little slow in updating the site. Don't worry. 🙂

On a positive note, UMich has given my application a "preliminary screening." I don't know if that's a good sign, but at least they are looking at it!
