I am personally looking for AECOM hosts for SAT 9/17 to Monday 9/19. It'll be my first time to NY so I will need much directions on how to get around. Maybe I can offer free dinner?

Check your pm

I'm still trying to find a student host at NYMC... I emailed THREE people on this "list of student hosts" that they distributed and no one has even responded. It's made me all paranoid. I keep wondering if my emails are being blocked or something. Ugh...

Okay side question(since i no longer request a host for AECOM)

Anyone know a hotel/motel closet to AECOM but between NYC and AECOM. I plan to visit NYC for a day or two while i'm in ny. I have to learn the bus system as well. or just cab everywhere.

I would be happy to host anyone who will be interviewing in Chicago at Rosalind Franklin University (formerly Finch). Just PM me. 🙂

Give me a holler if you get an interview at MCW. I'm about 20 minutes away from there. Send me a PM, and I'll let you know if it'll work out.

Oh, and if it makes a difference, I'm a guy. Doesn't matter to me if a guy/girl wants to stay, but I can understand a girl not wanting to stay with some strange guy. 🙂

I'm female and live off campus in a studio, otherwise I'd offer. Just e-mail people later in the alphabet, as the list is alphabetical. Also, try e-mailing in the evening, when someone might be checking e-mail regularly. We get SO MANY e-mails that it's often overwhelming if you haven't checked all day.

PS - if you e-mailed last week we were in the midst of studying for our first med school tests. If you send a courteous follow-up today or tomorrow you'll probably get a response.

I'd like to stay with a student host for my Georgetown interview, or at least share a hotel room with someone (trying to save $$) my interview window is September 27 – October 12, 2005 and I haven't scheduled yet.

That was my window too... but I scheduled my interview Oct 27. I'd also love a host....

Anyone interviewing at UW-Seattle is welcome to pm me. I live 5 minutes away.

Thanks for the advice. I did email a couple people last week but I emailed another person yesterday afternoon so hopefully someone will respond today. If not, I'll follow up this evening.

AECOM is in NYC 😉

If you mean between AECOM and Manhattan, you may as well choose one or the other. It is a 45 minute bus ride from right in front of AECOM to get into Midtown Manhattan. Subway may be faster but doesn't take you directly to AECOM. And within Manhattan, you'll want to use the subway. It's not difficult to figure it out. In each subway station there is a map, so you just look on the map to see where you want to go and then follow the right trains. The lines are color-coded and numbered. The buses travel up and down the numbered streets (so basically east-west, the opposite way from the subway), but there are enough subway stops so you can mostly walk and not bother with buses. I only used buses like 3 times in the entire 4 years I lived in Manhattan.

If you have any specific questions about the AECOM area or about Manhattan, feel free to PM me 🙂

Oh yeah, and if anybody is interviewing in Philadelphia, give me a PM. I may or may not be able to help you out with a place to stay, but if I can't directly I can certainly help find somebody else who can (did that make any sense? 😛).

I'm gonna organize this thread as we build. Gonna compile a list. I think i'll arrange it by state soon.

I'm down to help people out for UCSD. And I guarantee to show you a better time than you would get with normal student host/tour guide BS. 🙂

I live about 10 mins from Loma Linda and about 30 min from Case Western (DO school, I know) if anybody needs.

I'd be happy to host those who have interviews in DC (I'm a guy, by the way). I live in Rockville, MD but my apartment's less than 1/2 mile away from the metro, meaning that you can just hop on the metro to to head downtown (about a 20 min. ride or so).

i think you mean western is the DO school you live by!! 😉 (case western is in ohio!)

I'm doing 1 trip for 4 east coast interviews, and I'm going to AECOM in sept and staying in NY for 5 days in between my previous and next interview. It would be awesome if anyone in the manhattan/aecom area is willing to host me for like 1 or 2 nights, so I can at least save a little money on hotels. NY hotels are so expensive! 😱

My interview at Indiana University is scheduled on Sep 14th, and I called the school for student hosts but there isn't any. Is there anyone who might be able to offer me a couch? 🙂

I am driving from IL on Sep 13th....

STICKY

i wish i had the power 😛

I might be able to host people for the University of Kansas, I am in an MPH program there and live less than 10 minutes from there, however I spend some nights in Lawrence, KS, so you would have to PM me and check. I am also relatively close (15 minutes according to mapquest) to KCUMB (DO school).

For NYC (AEOCOM, Columbia, Cornell, Mt. Sinai, NYU) I probably can (as long as I not out interviewing). PM me about when you are interviewing.

For folks interviewing at OHSU, I may be able to host. My apartment is small, but it is very close to the bus stop to OHSU and convenient to the light rail to the airport. I did my undergrad at Cal, so I'm friendly to out-of-staters. 😀 PM if interested.

I am currently in the Georgetown SMP and living in Crystal City (Arlington) within walking distance of the Crystal City metro a stop for the blue line (the train that services Reagan, GWU, and Georgetown) and yellow line. Depending on the timeing, (ie not the week before I have a test and most weekends in october) Im willing to host any interviewer. PS Im a guy, and PM me if you want a room.

I'm at Case Western and have room in the brand new apartments they just built! we have a co-ed suite (2 guys/2 girls) so anyone is welcome

UCLA hosting here - if you're ok with pull-out couches, a pair of neurotic cats, a bus ride to/from campus, and 3 girls.

Damn, bluntman - I wish I didn't have friends in SD just so I could take advantage of this offer! Maybe they'll be out of town. 😛

If i missed anyone's generosity, please let know.

Is anyone going to Pitt for interview? Does anyone want to share a hotel room?

I live in Reed Hall, the dorm on the Hopkins medical campus. It's literally a block from the medical school and the view from my room is that wonderful dome that you see on all of their brochures/their emblum. I'm male but M/F doesnt matter to me and for now have an extra futon matress laying on my floor and extra pillows, dont know if i'm going to move it to DC or not. So if you need a place to stay at Hopkins give me a PM. I may not be around much if its an exam week or I have something else goin on, but i'll give u a place to crash(and save some $$$)...

I'd pay for dinner and breakfast if I can find some med student to stay when I interview at Indiana...any one? 🙂

did you make a list or something? I'm sort of confused by your previous post

Have no clue yet, haven't set up the date. I'm open for anything i guess. (Pitt)

I'm making a list as people reply to this thread. The list is on the original post.

I'll be in the DC area for a little bit during the second weekend of Sept. I'm planning to sitesee, but it's not fun siteseeing by yourself or is it safe at nite alone, so I heard. So if anyone will be in the area during that time, PM me if you wanna meet up and sitesee together! 🙂

in a way it's a blessing, one less headache for you. 😉

Hey, are ya'll afraid to fraternize with your fellow SDNers in real life? 😛

If anyone needs a place to stay near UVA, you can drop me a PM. I can't promise anything (I have a roommate I need to check with), but I would certainly do my best to work something out if there is a need. I live close to the campus and can give you a ride in the morning on my way to work and even walk you in.

bumping. This thread can be useful.
