Bobodr-san:

1) When UNC does call how do they offer interview dates and how far ahead are they. Say I get a call late tis week will it be like pick a date in the end of November or will it be in Dec/Jan?

I am pretty sure they will call soon and you should be able to schedule it this month. They will tell earliest day they could interview you.

2) After you schedule your interview do they send you anything in the mail? Interviewer names, schedule, parking info, etc?

They don't send anything in the mail. They will ask you to confirm your interview the day before your scheduled interview date. From the parking deck, its 4 to 5 min. walk to their office.



3) How are UNC interviews in general, stress? healthcare? AMCAS info? Open file? The UNC interview feedback isnt much and I know some people on here interviewed last yr, what did you think?

I am going there on Wed. (11/09/05). I can let you know after wed.

ECU. I already had my interview at ECU. I loved the school, people, and the area. Since I have a family, financially it would be a little easier at ECU. Maybe it won't make a difference though. I would love an offer from either of these two schools - UNC/ECU.

Sorry for the slow response. I was at WFU this morning.

Sally: I interviewed with Dean Hoole, but I got the call from Dr. Zdanski (sp?) at 8:20 this morning. He told me that Dean Hoole wasn't available to make phone calls today.

Pithlit: I'm still leaving all of my options on the table at this point. I've got six interviews this month so it's really too early to make any decisions. I'll keep you updated as I narrow my list (or it narrows me).

I interviewed with Dr. Cefalo, and he called me last night around 545.

UNC is definitely one of my top choices, but like roboyce, I want to see what all is on the table before I make any decisions.

I'm a new poster to this thread, although I've been following the saga from the beginning. Thought it was about time to post and actually contribute.
I was pre-secondary rejected from Wake, and have interviewed at UNC (11/2) and ECU (11/3). Interviews at ECU were alright...nothing unexpected and pretty basic. One interview at UNC went really well, the other was a nightmare. My credentials were attacked and it was overall quite acusatory. All I could do was defend myself without losing my cool. I felt alright about how I handled it, but I left feeling that the interviewer was unconvinced that I would make a good doctor (he told me so in not so many words). I'm still hopeful, though. For those of you preparing for interviews, and if you are unfortunate enough to have a similar experience, I think the best way to handle such a situation is to stand up for yourself without losing your confidence. There's a thin line to walk and I think they're watching to see how well you can walk it. Best of luck and congradulations to all of you with acceptances.

hey spartanboy, just so you know youre not the only one. I think my first interview at UNC went well, but the second was pretty god aweful, just like you said he seemed to attack my beliefs, and not even so much about medicine, he was asking questions like about my political views, and about george bush, and the war in iraq. alot of pretty controversial issues, that i didnt really know how to respond to, but i kept my cool too, and just pushed through it, but i think he got the impression i wouldnt make a good doctor cuz of politics, but who knows, still hoping for a phone call.

Finally got my UNC secondary as an August MCATer. Other than UVa this is my top choice although the cost associated with UVa, UNC is creaping up quite quickly. I've also applied to ECU and am currently a PhD student in Physiology and though the school is great I'm kinda looking forward to getting out of the area. Plus my wife is a PhD student graduating with me so she'd have much more opportunities in the RTP area. Congrats to everyone.

Hey guys, I just got interview invites from ECU and WFU yesterday. No invites for a month and then i get two within a half hour, pretty weird. But anyways to those of you who have recently gotten invites from WFU, they told me their earliest opening was JANUARY 3rd, so i took it, but i told them my schedule was flexible so if anything opened up let me know. And they called me today and said this friday was open. So anyone who got a late interview date, i would recommend calling and letting them now you are flexible, since i hear the next wfu review is DEC 14, so i think you would need a november interview for consideration in that selection.

To all: I interviewed at UNC last November and received my rejection over the phone in April. If the waiting is difficult for you, I suggest becoming an alcoholic. It worked for me.

Em1: I don't think they will count you as a resident. Their residency requirements are very strict.

Even though I am a student at Wake, I don't really have any inside info on their admissions process (nothing that you all don't already know). All I can say is keep checking in with them (they like to know that you are interested). If you get waitlisted, as most do, don't give up because they typically have a lot of waitlist movement. PM me if you have any specific questions that I can answer for you.

To all NCians: I hate to be the messenger of bad news but I have just heard that the BOG scholarship is no more. Seethrew, Peterock, Tofoo and I are among the final recipients of this award. A written statement has not yet been released, but I believe that in the future, the BOG award will be a loan which may or may not be forgivable with a NC service commitment. Bad for the state in my opinion, but maybe they had too many recipients landing plastic surgery residencies in LA. Who knows.

Yea same here, mine was received in their office on Thursday morning, I realize I have a little time until I should call, but if it gets to be more than a week I will definitely start to be anxious. With any luck we won't have to worry and they'll call all of us on Monday.

Hey, goodluck with your wake interview. Yea, they emailed me wednesday, and asked me to call them to schedule an interview, and the soonest they had available was Jan 3, but i would be out of town, so i took the 6th, but I told them that I live in Raleigh, and would be more than willing to drive up here earlier if a cancellation were to arise, and they called me back the very next day, and said they had one open for friday. Really short notice, but it got me into this round of decisions, instead of the jan/feb round. So if you do live close and youre really interested in wake, I would recommend calling them and letting them know you really like wake, and would be willing to come on short notice, if you want to get in on the earlier decision.

I heard this from a financial aid officer. I think that NC realized that they cannot accurately choose the students that will end up in primary care. Too many people change their mind in med school. I myself have had doubts about my original inclination. Community week (family practice) was really boring for me. Maybe it was just the doc I was working with, but I'm kind of turned off. I just really want to find a job that I can get excited about. The search continues...I want to check out psych and see if it's any better.

hey girl - school is going well, i am procrastinating like a champ now. (see the hour.) gotta love it. there was a football game on campus - beautiful day, and i was diggin in the guts of some dead bodies during most of the daylight hours.

remember the secondhand entry of travis' sister last year. well, we are like uber good friends now and i think it is hysterical. she had no idea her acceptance was posted... hehehe i have to go show her.

If you are waiting to hear from Wake Forest, definitely call because I got told I was in the top pool for an interview....wonder when they would have told me if I didnt call? Also, if you tell them you would be willing to fill in for a cancellation they will put you on the list and call you if there is an earlier spot.

Lisa from the admissions office called me today around 4:30. I had a choice of next monday, tuesday, or wednesday;it is nice that you can schedule a date not too far in the future. I took Wednesday.
