I came to unc for undergrad from cali and stayed and am working here now. I love UNC so much that I couldn't even think about applying to duke hahaha so it is nice to be accepted here.

If you log onto your Duke interactive account, it says decisions will be mailed February 27. It also says that they will NOT email or phone people...contrary to what has been popping up on other threads. (although I suppose they could make exceptions to these rules...I have no idea)

I guess it says somewhere in your file that they have recieved a LOI, so i would recommend doing it, and even if they dont read it or are annoyed, it still shows that you took the time to write one. Also, i just kinda asked about my app. status, and she said that a couple acceptions were given after each interview round, but they were rare, and pretty much if you didnt get accepted right after your interview, then you'll be waiting till late march/early april to hear back, or atleast thats what she implied. She said theres really nothing more you can do, but wait till then and hope for the best. So it looks like most of us are all in the same boat, waiting 2 months to hear anything.

Have any out-of-staters gotten rejected at UNC yet? I submitted my AMCAS in June and have not gotten an interview. Is there still any hope?

Also, my dad grew up in NC, and all of his side of the family is still there. I emailed & left a phone message to ask if this was worth noting but got no response. Anyone else in a similar situation?

20 people on this list have interviewed so far and 7 have been accepted for a 35 % rate. Close to UNC'sactual acceptance rate....

I was like that for a few months after my interview and then they finally updated me recently (I interviewed in the beginning of Nov.)

Thanks. Although, it doesn't make sense to me. I interviewed at Wake on Jan 25th and we were told that the committee meeting will be on February 8th. However, I did not recieve any e-mails from Wake yet 🙁 They are either behind, or maybe they send rejections only by snail mail? 🙁

They will probably send out the decisions on Monday, Feb 13, 2006 at approx 11:59 AM EST. In the past, they meet on Wednesday and usually send the decisions out the following Monday. The decision will be a .pdf file attached to an e-mail message. You will receive a snail mail letter a few days afterwards if waitlist or accepted. They do not waste postage on rejection letters.

I got the letter in the mail. Its all good though, because I still know I am going somewhere. Only thing about ECU is that my pockets wouldnt be hurting as bad.

Sorry to hear the bad news. 🙁 I guess ECU has changed thier policies, or people in the past who got rejections early didn't bother to post on SDN. I don't remember anyone in the past getting rejected post-interview before early May.

Here's hoping there is a lot of good news left to come! Try not to let it get you down, guys. ECU's class is less than half the size of UNC's, so it is kind of logical that they have to reject more people. But that doesn't make it hurt any less. Keep your chins up, we've still got a few more good months left in this application year!

Geez. Where are the ECU acceptances? Also to the other two that got rejected from ECU, where you guys first timers or reapplicants? Just curious because I know that more than 50% of their class consists of reapplicants(I am a first timer).

What is up with ECU this year? Does anyone have any information, has thier admissions process changed any? I thought they were non-rolling admissions/semi-rolling admissions. In the past they didn't give out rejections until May post-interview. 😕

Has anyone sent a letter of intent to Duke or know anyone who has in the past?

I sent in one letter of interest post interview and before I got a response.
After I got waitlisted I sent in an update, but forgot to tell them about the BOG scholarship because I am a *******.
I got off the waitlist in June, but declined to go to Carolina.
Partially because scholarship wouldn't transfer was too late.

This was last year.

Hey Bust, here's something to make you laugh.

This summer I was at UNC for the MED program. So I was obviously in the Health Sciences library quite a bit. Usually I would use the upstairs computers to print stuff, but one day I just wanted to check my email. I went in to the ground floor computer bank and sat down at a computer. YOU were logged in to SDN! Here's the best part: there was a message from someone, a PM I think, telling you to remember to log out when you left!
I guess they had had the same experience I did.

i think the reminder was from me! hahahahah 😉 kickizzle

just out of curiosity, once you are notified by UNC that you are accepted, do you get an admission package in the mail few days later?

they forgot to mail me mine and i went to go pick it up because i was impatient. but i think you should get it in like a week or something.

BUST - Nubian got accepted last year but deferred entrance to Duke until '06 thats what she means.

AND ALSO - we are working on the second annual pre-orientation camping trip for UNC'ers to be held in August... it was a blast last year. can't wait to meet all y'all. 😉

Called today (02/13/06) and they said decisions will probably be sent by e-mail on either Tues. (02/14/06) or Wed. (02/15/06) (aka most likely not today).

So the wait continues!

I'm so tempted to write one, but I haven't had my interview at Mayo yet so I'm unsure.... Is it true that they preference people from the South? It seems like they reject a lot of people post-interview from looking at mdapplicants.com- really scary

Same here, but a 1/23 date. Don't know if I should spend time writing letters/calling and all, being that I'm in somewhere I like. I liked Wake a whole lot, but would need some decent financial aid.

I feel exactly the same way. I am in at somewhere else, and though I liked Wake when I visited, only an attractive financial aid package would sway me.
