For real. If I didn't have a spot I'd be dialing up as many places as I could. I really wanted my final decision to be between Wake and UMD.

I feel exactly the same way. I am in at somewhere else, and though I liked Wake when I visited, only an attractive financial aid package would sway me.

I am pretty sure that only NC residents can get grants/scholarships. Not 100 % sure but pretty sure.... and if not 100 % to NC'ers its like 99 %

I'm so tempted to write one, but I haven't had my interview at Mayo yet so I'm unsure.... Is it true that they preference people from the South? It seems like they reject a lot of people post-interview from looking at mdapplicants.com- really scary

they may have a larger amount of nc grads, but they may have a lot of applicants from that pool too.

i was a NY resident when i applied.

Lol...don't remind me. I even had a dream last night that Duke all of a sudden decided to give out their decisions today, and everyone around me had thick envelopes in their hands. This process does crazy things to your mind.

Well, we have UNC to look forward to on Monday and Duke is mailed the Monday after that. So there will be some excited people on the thread I am sure!
When does Wake meet again? And does anyone know anything about the ECU schedule? Also, ECU decisions are via US Mail, right? Are acceptances big or small (envelopes I mean)?
Guess I just want to promote some NC thread activity.

I remember some people posting and saying that their ECU acceptances came in a small envelope (just one or two pages)) but they do send a big packet/financial aid thing later.

Glad you brought this thread back to the land of the living. About the ECU decisions....the acceptance letter is US Mail. It's a standard size envelope but it has quite a few pages in it, medical records form, etc., so it shouldn't be completely flat. Best of luck to all who are waiting.

Interviewed at UNC this week. My committee interviewer told me they still have about 100 people to interview which is just amazing to me. It seems so late in the season, but I guess UNC has their own time table.

My Cinci interviewer told me that I had to come back and see her iif I chose to come to cinci as she enjoyed talking to me so much. I was recently placed on their alternate list - a list that hasnt gotten much use in the last 3 years. FWTW......

I'm pretty sure we've established that the majority of acceptances will go out in march...that being said go to Northwestern!

They say on their website that it's to protect the integrity and security of the admissions process, but as of last year they were still doing phone calls, though their website also says no decisions will be transmitted by phone. I'm very confused 😕

Back in November when I interviewed at Duke, my interviewer asked me how I balanced working 30 hours a week with school, and I told her several ways and then also said that in the end I just had to let it go- for instance, I might be getting my first C that semester but that with missing all sorts of class for interviews and the demands of my job that I just had to accept it. I didn't end up getting a C, but last night I had a nightmare that my interviewer called to reject me and said that Duke didn't accept people who got Cs. I tried to explain that I hadn't gotten a C, but she didn't care. I woke up with my heart about to beat out of my chest 😱

I interviewed on Dec. 2 and got my acceptance today so don't give up yet. It was weird though, because I heard they give phone calls if you're accepted and my parents got a letter at my house.

Congrats MD2BN10!!!! Thats great that you heard!!

I had always though they gave phone calls to those accepted but I guess not always 🙂

And golftrippy....I definitely love Northwestern, but there is something to be said for NC and a lot less debt....and my boyfriend and all my friends are in NC 🙂

I'm a UNC guy, Duke interviewer, but in at UNC and since I look soo dam hot in carolina blue I will likely be a tar heel for 4-5 more years.
One thing about last years people that is that they meet up before classes started to get to know each other. Future UNCer's and all SDNer's from NC should meet up sometime when it gets warm. Until then...
anyone heard about the rennovated Bondurant Hall... looks pretty hot. The MBRB looks good too but it'll be nice to have a building all the SOM's own. I hear Berryhill is going under the knife soon.

They have in the past....I got mine the Monday after their Wednesday adcom meeting at around 1230pm.

But in the past few weeks, they have been later and later sending out emails...

Just thought I would toss this out there so you'll know not to camp out by the mailbox until the 2nd or 3rd! GL everyone waiting for UNC and Wake today.

Nope. I looked at this thread probably few thousand times already. Either UNC adcom didn't meet or no SDNer got in.

if you didn't get the letter they took your acceptance to give to someone else..... or maybe I just asked until they cracked, I wonder if that works for accceptances, oh wait thats how I got mine....mmmmmm coffee at 10pm..... its kinda like getting a DND letter, excitement that you got a communication from UNC thankful that its not a rejection letter...but then oh wait...this means more waiting, and wait I will until atleast 2am to fall asleep

I feel like my interview went exceptionally well, but we all know that doesn't really mean anything. I've been wondering what they take into consideration when offering acceptances. For example, some schools no longer consider numbers (GPA/MCAT) once you get to the interview stage. I hope Duke doesn't, because my MCAT is definitely below their average. Now I'm just rambling. Come on Duke! Pick me! lol 😀

From what I've heard, Duke handpicks a very diverse class. I think they only interview people who they believe are academically capable of handling their school, but I think your ECs and experiences are just as important in getting a spot in their class. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't read your LORs until after your interview, so that would be a new factor to your app.

The admissions office said it was sent Feb 8, although I don't think its gotten to my house yet which is strange since its only a 3+ hour drive
